Ali, Suhel Al-Najjar","doi":"10.5742/MEJIM.2013.64347","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5742/MEJIM.2013.64347","url":null,"abstract":"Background and Objectives: This study aimed to develop a predictive model for sperm retrieval rate(SRR) sperm recovery by testicular fine-needle aspiration (TESA) & compare with (SRR) obtained by per cutanuose open biopsy sperm aspiration (PSA) correlating with hormonal parameters. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective study for sample obtained from 45 male patients during the period from January 2011-march2012.Clinical, paraclinical, and histological information of patients were gathered. All patients underwent both TESA and PSA in a single operation. Predictors of SRR by TESA were identified comparing with predictive outcome of PSA . Statistical Analysis Used: Categorical and continuous variables were compared using independent t test and -chi-square test. Logistic regression model was applied to develop a predictive model for SRR by TESA & PSA outcome. Results: Sperm retrieval rate for TESA and PSA was 42.2% and 48.8%, respectively (P = 0.03).Regarding age group is more common in 4 th (50.3%), while 3 rd & 5 th dacedes each of them (20%). The duration of infertility were variable ranging from (10-20) years. Testis volume, luteinizing hormone, prolactin, and testosterone did not differ between patients. Conclusions: Serum FSH and testicular pathology were predictors of SRR by TESA. The World Health Organization has consistently estimated that 70-80% of the population of these countries rely on THC for their basic health care needs, either on its own or in conjunction with modern medical care. (2). Many conventional drugs originate from plant sources: a century ago, most of the few effective drugs were plant based. Total fucose, total protein and TF/TP ratio were determined in sera and RBCs according to their blood type groups for 40 control, (40 T minor) and (45 T major). No significant differences were found in TP in sera and RBCs of T minor, T major and controls considering each blood type group. A significant increase in TF level in sera of T major compared to TF for T minor and TF for control, also a significant increase in TF for T major compared to T minor. The RBCs of T major contain the highest level of TF followed by TF in RBCs for T minor compared to that in RBCs for control. Yet no significant difference in blood types groups for T minor patients was found. On the other hand high levels of TF in RBCs of type O blood group in T major was noticed compared to TF in RBCs of group A, B and AB. A significant increase in TF/TP in the sera of T major compared to the ratio in T minor and controls was noticed.
