It gives new insights into the structures and dynamic properties of silicates, aluminosilicates and zeolites. This review will briefly summarize some fundamental aspects of the theory and experimental practice of NMR spectroscopy and application of NMR methods to mineralogical and geochemical problems. By considering superspace group symmetry for quasiperiodic systems, atomic modulation functions can be applied to the structure refinement of the modulated composite crystal. By the superspace group approach, we can also understand structural interactions between substructures. The samples were heated by the infrared image furnace in He gas condition, and mass spectra of released gas phase were measured by Q-mass spectrometer. Experimental results show that(a) the detected phases on heating are H2O, N2, O2 and CO2, (b) the volume of CO2 mainly depends on the species of manganese mineral, and(c) O/Mn ratio of manganese wad was varied widely and there is a negative correlation between O/Mn ratio and crystallinity. The above features are mostly depend on the amorphous part of the managanese wad. As X-ray diffraction method is insufficient for amorphous phase, gas analysis can provides an important data for study of manganese wad. Important models so far presented can be divided into two categories due to difference in evaluation of the second harmonic of the (Ca, Na) modulation wave. The first type (TF, HTKJ and KHNE models), where the second harmonic is assumed to be negligible, gives the ordered arrangement of Na and Ca among the neighbouring subcells. On the other hand, in the second type (KM model) the second harmonic is strong enough to give the alternating bands of the albite-like and anorthite-like structures. Because of the weak intensities of the second satellite reflections corresponding to the second harmonic, the final answer between the model types has not been obtained using only the X-ray diffraction method.
