Because the carrier lifetime is comparable to the carrier cooling time (typically 1 psec at T = 290 K), LT-GaAs is an interesting material in which to study highly non-equilibrium carrier and, perhaps even, phonon distributions in a semiconductor.","PeriodicalId":242710,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115723571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, a number of techniques for shaping and synthesizing femtosecond pulse waveforms have been developed.1,2 These techniques rely on linear filtering of the individual optical frequency components contained within an ultrashort pulse. Although these techniques can be very effective, certain basic signal processing operations, such as time reversal, correlation, and convolution, cannot be achieved by linear filtering. In this paper we discuss the use of spectral holography to perform storage, recall, and nonlinear filtering of shaped femtosecond pulses. In particular, we demonstrate time-reversal, correlation, and convolution of femtosecond optical waveforms.","PeriodicalId":242710,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121495219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

[1] Recently, an additional explanation of those experiments was given, in which optical transitions in the depletion field create electrons and holes in states where they are already polarized. [2] This creates a polarization P that grows with the integrated pulse energy, and hence radiates an electrical transient according to E~∂2P/∂t2. The final proof of the importance of this process however, can only be given in a sample where transport current is inhibited!","PeriodicalId":242710,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133844664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far basically all of the kinetic measurements characterizing these processes have been carried out employing transient absorption techniques in the picosecond and femtosecond time range. In contrast, very few time-resolved fluorescence studies are available where the charge separation kinetics has been resolved (2,3). In view of the controversy about the exact mechanism of the primary electron transfer processes (see 1 for details) application of methods which are complementary to transient absorption is highly desirable. We present here a fluorescence kinetics study on isolated reaction centers of the purple bacterium Rb. sphaeroides.","PeriodicalId":242710,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115144238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
