In this study, the microplastic contaminations of seven fish species (Cyprinus carpio, Carassius gibelio, Alburnus spp., Scardinius erythrophthalmus, Vimba vimba, Neogobius fluviatilis, and Perca fluviatilis) collected from Lake Manyas, Lake Uluabat, Lake Gala, Lake Gökgöl, Alaçatı Dam, Beydağ Dam, Tahtalı Dam, and Karaidemir Dam were examined. A total of 610 MP particles were extracted from the gastrointestinal systems of all fish species (n: 406). The ingested MPs were only fibers with the dominant plastic color being blue. The length of microplastics ranged from 0.10 to 4.85 mm. Mean MP length size in C. carpio species 1.40±0.90 mm, in C. gibelio species 1.32±0.88 mm, in Alburnus spp. 1.23±0.90 mm, in S. erythrophthalmus species 0.94±0.79 mm, in V. vimba species 1.11±0.69 mm, in P. fluviatilis species 1.34±0.89 mm, in N. fluviatilis species 1.25±0.97 mm.\u0000Among the studied species, the most fiber microplastic was found in P. fluviatilis. According to habitat and feeding features the highest number of microplastics was found in benthopelagic and invertivore fish. This data is anticipated to form the basis for new research and decision-making processes.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46527251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the 1st experiment, four different enrichment levels of AUR (0.0,0.6,0.8 and 1.0g/L) against a control commercial solution (S-presso) were tested for 12/24-hours enrichment while in the 2nd experiment, three levels (0.0, 0.6 and 0.8g/L) of AUR enriched-Artemia were fed to larval stages. At the end of both enrichments, DHA and EPA levels were found to be significantly enhanced by using AUR at 0.6 and 0.8g/L. In the 2nd experiment, fatty acid composition of the PL was significantly affected by AUR and the PL fed with enriched diets showed higher n-3 LC-PUFA accumulation in their tissues. The larvae grown from M1 to PL7 displayed higher survivals and growth in the enriched AUR-groups compared to the control(0.0AUR). In conclusion, this study has demonstrated that the use of AUR as enrichment significantly elevated EPA and DHA levels to 0.6-0.8g/L enrichment periods and the enriched-Artemia at such levels were proven to effectively improve growth and survival of the early larval stages of P. semisulcatus.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":"63 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41295609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Eight isoproteic experimental diets (FM, FM+P/X, FM+P/C, FM+X/C, SP, SP+P/X, SP+P/C, and SP+X/C) were evaluated with three replicates. Shrimps (1  0.2 g) were maintained in a recirculating system at 12 organisms/tank for 90 days. Significant differences (p ˂ 0.05) were found in all the productive parameters of L. vannamei. Compared with the control diets (FM and SP), shrimps fed with FM+P/C showed the highest final body weight (7.83 ± 0.34 g) and proteolytic activity (178.81 ± 24.49 U/mg protein), as well as the lowest feed conversion ratio (1.71 ± 0.01). In contrast, the SP+X/C group presented the highest lipolytic activity (0.0235 ± 0.0028 U/mg) and apparent digestibility (94.12 ± 0.09%). In accord with its omnivorous trophic habits, enzyme mixtures included in animal and plant based-diets improved different productive variables of L. vannamei, representing a nutritional alternative to optimize feed use in shrimp cultivation.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49452430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With augmenting F-T-C, the CHMS meat underwent deterioration to higher extent as indicated by upsurges in exudate loss, tougher texture along with increased microbial counts. The addition of EGCG could retard those changes in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, EGCG prevented microbial growth as ascertained by lower counts and total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB) content. Lipid oxidation was also impeded in the presence of EGCG, especially at a high concentration as evidenced by lowered malondialdehyde (MDA), while maintaining polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly EPA and DHA when F-T-C raised. Total disulfide bond content and surface hydrophobicity of CHMS added with EGCG were lower than those of the control. Those alterations were more retarded as EGCG concentration increased. Therefore EGCG at 400 ppm effectively prevented quality loss of CHMS meat during repeated F-T process.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":"127 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70423794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 27 years catch data (from 1995 to 2021) was used in the analysing process of study. Estimated CMSY model parameters with confidence intervals are as follows: r=0.426 (0.357 - 0.509) year-1, k=146 (118 - 180) ton, MSY=15.7 (13.0 - 18.0) ton, B2021=77.9 (59.5 - 86.7) ton, BMSY=72.8 (58.9 - 89.9) ton, F2021 = 0.295 (0.265 - 0.386) year-1, FMSY = 0.213 (0.179 - 0.254) year-1, B2021/ BMSY = 1.07 (0.818 - 1.190) and F2021/FMSY = 1.38 (1.240 - 1.81). Our study has found that the crayfish population in the Keban reservoir has been in decline due to overfishing since the late 1990s. However, the population has shown signs of recovery since 2013 due to reduced fishing activity. After all overexploitation occurred again in 2021. Our analysis also showed that the current quota of 30.5 tons is significantly higher than the MSY of 15.7 tons. Therefore, it is recommended to reduce the crayfish quota to 15.7 tons in order to sustain the population and prevent further decline.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43180407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can be split into industrial and artisanal fishing; the latter is more important from global, cultural, economic, and social points of view. Mugilids are of great commercial interest for artisanal fisheries due to their wide distribution and diverse uses; in Mexico, this resource stands out because it ranks fourth in the specific composition of catches and has shown a growing trend in yields in recent years (2008-2020). Therefore, an evaluation of the stock and behavior of the fisheries were undertaken in support of resource sustainability. We suggest that an active regulation measure be taken along with already existing passive measures. The exploitable biomass was estimated at 12,040 t, BMSY=11,424 t, and MSY=2,900 t. The resource is in decline with a tendency to overexploitation, and it could collapse if no action is taken. Therefore, we propose incorporating a temporal ban and an annual catch quota of 2,900 t to the current regulation, as well as using the methods and parameterization in this study for future evaluations.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43288899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper reported the first knowledge on length-weight relationship (LWR) and condition factor of Atherina boyeri in Atikhisar Reservoir, Çanakkale, Türkiye. A total of 1103 individuals of which 132 were immature was captured in June 2021. The sex ratio male to female was 1:1.75. The relationship between weight (W) and total length (TL), standard length (SL), and fork length (FL) were estimated as W=9E-06TL2.9212, W=1E-05SL2.9082, and W=9E-06FL2.9495. A. boyeri exhibited a negative allometric growth. The mean of Fulton`s condition factor of A. boyeri population in Atikhisar Reservoir was determined as 0.619±0.061. The mean Fulton`s condition factor for female individuals were higher than the males` condition factor and the difference between sexes was statistically significant. The present study made available valuable information on the data poor stock by providing LWR and condition factor of A. boyeri in Atikhisar Reservoir, a new freshwater system for the very euryhaline amphidromous species. The findings of the present study will substantially contribute to the knowledge of the population dynamics of the commercially important species for fisheries managers and decision-makers to maintain sustainable population levels.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43294117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was carried out between June 2021 and May 2022 in the concept of length-based data-poor fisheries management. TropFishR R package was used in study due to pretty effective in analysing of the length-frequency (LFQ) data. As a result of monthly fishing trials, 14,919 crayfish were caught between 29.92 and 163.38 mm in total length (14.83 – 80.95 mm carapace length). The female-male ratio of the population was found to be 1:1.21. It was determined that growth occurred (+) allometrically in all sexual groups (female, male, female+male). The growth parameters L∞, K and Ф of the P. leptodactylus stock were found to be 86.06-mm, 0.59/year, and 3.64, respectively. The annual rate of total (Z), natural (M) and fishing mortality (F) were estimated to be 3.02, 0.64, and 2.38/ year, respectively. The exploitation rate (E) of the crayfish stock was estimated to be 0.78, Fcurr/Fmax ratio 1.79 and SPR ratio 0.13. In this context, Egirdir Lake P. leptodactylus stock was evaluated as overfished. To ensure the sustainability of the stock of the species in the lake, it is necessary to reduce the mortality rate caused by fishing.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44265389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The assessment was generally based on two factors: the effect of predation on juvenile carp`s mortality and potential differences in the growing performance of different age classes. The investigation on predation effects showed, that after one year ~541 of initially 1000 stocked K1 survived in the water body with decreased pressure of predation, while there was no evidence of surviving stocked juveniles in the water body with increased pressure. Regarding the growth-rate, the stocked K1 showed the overall steepest growth curve compared both to the stocked K2 cohort and selected wild populations. After five years the younger stocked cohorts ML was even higher than the older cohorts one at the same age, although the stocked K2 had by far a larger initial TL.\u0000Our results showed that predation can massively impact the mortality rate of stocked K1 juveniles and thus the success of fisheries management strategies. Moreover, it demonstrated the benefits of stocking fish in early life stages regarding a best possible adaptation to the given environmental conditions.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45883455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Growth performance and feed efficiency was significantly influenced by oxidized fish oil (P<0.05), but not by hazelnut oil supplementation and their interaction. Fish fed diets containing fresh fish oil had better growth and feed efficiency than those fed diets containing oxidized fish oil. Digestibility decreased with the increase in both dietary oxidized fish oil and hazelnut oil. Fatty acid profile in whole body lipids was significantly influenced by the experimental diets (P<0.05). Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) showed significant decrease with both dietary hazelnut oil inclusion and dietary oxidized fish oil. Dietary hazelnut oil resulted in a significant increase in hepatic vitamin E and a significant decrease in lipid peroxidation level (P<0.05). Our overall results suggested that dietary oxidized lipids caused growth depletion, lowered nutrient digestibility, lipid peroxidation, and decreased eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA; 20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic (DHA; 22:6n-3) levels in rainbow trout. However, dietary hazelnut oil inclusion alleviated the negative effects of oxidized oil, sparing n-3 long-chain PUFAs such as EPA and DHA, and increasing hepatic α-tocopherol level which lowered lipid peroxidation despite no significant impact on growth.","PeriodicalId":23978,"journal":{"name":"Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42703223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
