Zlokazov","doi":"10.1524/ZKSU.2007.2007.SUPPL_26.355","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1524/ZKSU.2007.2007.SUPPL_26.355","url":null,"abstract":"The triaxial residual stresses in a composite tube from an austenitic stainless steel with a welded ferritic steel cladding were measured by the time-of-flight neutron diffraction method on the POLDI instrument at the PSI SINQ neutron pulsed facility. The POLDI results are compared to the results obtained by the destructive turning out and ring core methods and theoretical predictions of calculations by the finite element method. Only for the tangential component of the stress tensor the semiquantitative agreement of the all used methods was observed. There was a clear discrepancy between the results of the different methods in the axial component. By refining the high-resolution X-ray diffraction patterns with Rietveld profile analysis, the lattice parame- ters, interatomic distances and cation distribution were determined. The Fe-for-Mn substitu- tion increases the spinel unit cell constant from a = 8.27A to a = 8.38A, for the Fe/(Fe+Mn) mole ratio of 0.1 and 0.472, respectively.
