The aim of this study is to evaluate the intraoperative and postoperative outcomes of patients who underwent laparoscopic total extraperitoneal (TEP) inguinal hernia repair and to emphasize the importance of learning curve. METHODS: Patients who underwent laparoscopic TEP inguinal hernia repair in our hospital between 2012-2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Age, gender, intraoperative and postoperative complications, duration of operation, postop hospital stay,time to return to work/ daily activity, pain and recurrence parameters were evaluated. RESULTS: The study has been conducted on the results of 184 procedure repairs applied to 140 hernia patients, 96 of them unilateral and 44 bilateral. The average age is 50.55±15.01years, 126 patients are men and 14 patients are women. While 98 of the patients are under 65 years old, 42 of them are over 65 years old. The average duration of activity/return to work is 4.88±1.57 days and the average duration of operation is 59.53±21.21 minutes. Duration of staying in hospital is 1.02±0.14 days. %9,3 Intraoperative complication, %5,7 postop pain, %5 seroma were observed among cases. At the 3rd month checkup 6 patients experienced moderate pain, recurrence was observed in 5 patients at the 1st year checkup. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Laparascopic TEP inguinal hernia repair is a safe surgical procedure in terms of less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay,shorter time return to daily activity, similar complication rates compared to laparoscopic and open repairs in literature.","PeriodicalId":238749,"journal":{"name":"Kocaeli Medical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123174313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among these findings take part arthralgia, arthritis, photosensitivity, oral ulcer, sicca syndrome, fever, hypergammaglobulinemia, cytopenia, neuropathy and anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) positivity, which have been also observed in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Not only does HIV imitate SLE, but also it might coexist with. Case Report: A 40-year-old man who presented with oral lesions, blurry vision, vertigo, speech difficulty and ataxic gait admitted to the clinic. Cerebellar tests were abnormal. He could not walk in tandem gait. After observing leukopenia, lymphocytopenia and mildly increased liver function tests in laboratory and encephalitis on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), autoantibodies and viral panel were requested. While autoantibodies were negative, HIV Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) was found positive. Conclusion: HIV can lead to systemic autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions. Notably, ruling out HIV in patients who have rheumatological findings is necessary.","PeriodicalId":238749,"journal":{"name":"Kocaeli Medical Journal","volume":"837 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114116059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: Using maximum diversity sampling, 16 cancer patients were interviewed between 20 December 2020 and 25 February 2021. The data were collected using the online interview technique by making one-to-one interviews with semi-structured interview forms. Results: The difficulties of the patients related to the Covid 19 pandemic were grouped under three themes. These themes are “emotional problems, economic problems and behavioral responses associated with Covid-19”. Discussion and Conclusion: Cancer patients fear from transmission of Covid 19 virus; experienced a sense of longing due to the quarantine process; faced with economic difficulties; the cleaning habits of the patients who applied to traditional complementary methods for protection from the virus have changed.","PeriodicalId":238749,"journal":{"name":"Kocaeli Medical Journal","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123761468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
