METHODS: Patients with an unexplained diagnosis of infertility, who were administered CC-IUI, or KOH-IUI, with the ages in a range of 22-40 years were included in the study. Age of the patients, duration of infertility, treatment protocol [(CC-IUI) vs (KOH-IUI)], the cycle of treatment, β-hCG level on the 12th day after IUI, clinical pregnancy and live birth rates were compared between patients with and without leukocytospermia. RESULTS: There was no difference between the groups in terms of age, duration of infertility, number of cycles, treatment protocol, β-hCG positivity, and clinical pregnancy. The live birth rate in the group with leukocytospermia (+) was lower than the group with leukocytospermia (-) (5.7% vs. 23.7%, respectively, p ˂ 0.05). While β-hCG positivity and clinical pregnancy were not different between groups in patients receiving CC-IUI treatment (p˃0.05), the live birth rate in the leukocytospermia (-) group was higher than the group with leukocytospermia (+) (p = 0.037). In patients who received KOH-IUI treatment, β-hCG positivity, clinical pregnancy rate, and live birth rate were found to be higher in the group with leukocytospermia (-) than the group with leukocytospermia (+) (respectively, p = 0.016, p = 0.004, p = 0.002). ) DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Asymptomatic leukocytospermia affects clinical pregnancy and live birth rates in patients who underwent ovulation induction due to unexplained infertility.","PeriodicalId":238749,"journal":{"name":"Kocaeli Medical Journal","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126733288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Only one eye of each individual was chosen randomly in. Corneal hysteresis (CH), corneal resistance factor (CRF), Goldmann-correlated IOP (IOPg), corneal-compensated IOP (IOPcc) measured by ORA, and IOP measured by NCT were compared before and an hour after the hydrogel CL (with back vertex power of −3.00 Diopter) (1-Day Acuvue Moist-Etafilcon A, Johnson&Johnson) application. The data were analysed using a paired sample t-test. RESULTS: Fifty-eight eyes of 58 participants were included in the study. 19 participants were female and 39 were male. The mean age of the participants was 26.53 ± 5.09. Therefore, it is important to evaluate prognostic factors and inflammatory markers that may affect the clinical course of COVID-19 infection during pregnancy. Our aim in this study is to investigate inflammatory markers such as procalcitonin, ferritin, D-Dimer and fibrinogen that may affect the clinical outcomes of COVID-19 infected pregnant women who need intensive care unit (ICU). Method: 53 pregnant women who needed ICU due to acute respiratory failure because of COVID-19 infection were included in our study. Pregnant patients followed up in the ICU were divided into two groups according to whether they were intubated or not. These two patient groups were compared according to lymphocyte count, C-reactive protein (CRP), D-Dimer, ferritin, fibrinogen, procalcitonin values and descriptive features. Results: The The CRP results of the intubated group were higher (p=0.001; p<0.01). Lymphocyte count of the two groups were compared, the results of the intubated group were lower and this difference was statistically significant (p=0.002; p<0.01). A statistically significant difference was found between procalcitonin values (p=0.001; p<0.01) and ferritin values (p=0.033; p<0.05) in the intubated and non-intubated groups. Both laboratory parameters were higher in the intubated group. Fibrinogen results were high in intubated group but this was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.081; p>0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, inflammatory parameters in pregnant patients may reflect the severity of the COVID-19 infection to some extent. Therefore, these markers can be used in the clinical management of the disease.","PeriodicalId":238749,"journal":{"name":"Kocaeli Medical Journal","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122023084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We aimed to investigate the changes in clinical and inflammatory findings, and the factors associated with mortality in patients with COVID-19 infection treated with tocilizumab. METHODS: Adult patients with COVID-19 infection treated with tocilizumab were analyzed retrospectively. Tocilizumab was indicated in COVID-19 infection and macrophage activation syndrome, which was unresponsive to glucocorticoids, or where the clinical course had progressed rapidly. We compared changes in the clinical and laboratory parameters between baseline (pre-tocilizumab), post-tocilizumab 1st day, 3rd day, and 5th day periods. We grouped the patients according to mortality at the 30th day of treatment with tocilizumab alive vs. exitus. RESULTS: The mean age of patients was 61.54 (±10.27), 28.9% (n=22) of the total (n=76) were female. 14 patients (18.42%) had died. The change in lymphocyte count (≤170), and SaO2(≤2), D-dimer (>0.18), leukocyte (>2400), procalcitonin (≤-0.11), LDH (>90), and ALT(≤11) levels between the 5th day after treatment and the baseline predicted mortality. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the decrease in fever and anorexia, the change in SaO2, neutrophil, lymphocyte, and LDH levels between the 5th day after treatment and the baseline were predictors for mortality. Cox regression analysis revealed that persistence of fever, and an increase in D-dimer, leukocyte, and neutrophil levels were significant predictors for mortality. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The mortality rate was relatively low. Persistence of fever, increase in leukocyte, neutrophil or D-dimer levels predicted mortality. We recommend measurement of inflammatory markers in the patients COVID-19 infection under treatment of tocilizumab.","PeriodicalId":238749,"journal":{"name":"Kocaeli Medical Journal","volume":"362 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124556742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
