Most times, the tumour is undiagnosed till it gets to an advanced stage, and may also be as a result of the relatively expensive diagnostic equipment used. Over the years the increase in uteri myoma has called for a model that could rapidly recognise the neoplasm at an early stage. In this study, we design a relatively specific model for the detection of uterine myoma. Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB version 7.5.0, R2007b) was used to implement the combined fuzzy logic classifier called adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) model. The dataset that was used in training the ANFIS model consist of 90 cases, which involve 78% (70 cases) of the entire dataset that was used in the training process of the system. The remaining 22% (20 cases) of the data were also used in the testing process of the system, which the system will get adapted to for subsequent recognition of similar cases. The ANFIS program was designed using a bell membership function that utilises a hybrid optimisation method with an error tolerance of 0.05. The training dataset was passed through the ANFIS for 30 epochs. At the end of the simulation, the system had a training error of 0.016169 with the training dataset and an average testing error of 0.010315. The system was able to classify approximately 99% of the test data set accurately. Therefore, we have successfully classified the symptoms of uterine fibroid using combined fuzzy-logic and neural network classifiers for vulnerable women. Samples were collected at Zibo FM Quarry, Aaye and Samchase Quarry, Itaogbolu and tested in the laboratory for the determination of rock density, hardness, and strength. An average density of between 2.57g/cm3 and 2.67g/cm3 was recorded. Schmidt hammer and Rockwell hardness machine wereused for the determination of rock samples hardness. An average uniaxial compressive strength of rock sample was estimated from the values obtained from Schmidt hammer rebound value. The Hardness test varies from 115.90MPa to 185.00MPa (classified to have high strength) while the average Rockwell hardness varied from 45.1HRA - 57.32HRA. The average point load index ranges from 7.402MPa - 7.505MPa classified to have very high strength. Multiple regression analysis using computer-aided solution (Statistical Package for Social Sciences - SPSS) was used to analyze data obtained from the laboratory and field tests. Five parameters were input into the multiple regression analysis to generate the models. Two parameters which are Schmidt hammer rebound value and Rockwell hardness value out of five parameters are dependent variables, while point load index, uniaxial compressive strength, and density are independent variables. The result of the models developed shows positive correlations – an indication that the hardness of rock gives a significant contribution in drilling bit selection. A preliminary design module that analyzes the aerodynamic qualities of a compressor or turbine design was used to investigate the aerodynamic design parameters of the turbine design. The isentropic turbine efficiency was also predicted using a Smith correlation chart. Design results showed that reducing the number of turbine stages from 5 to 1 is feasible. The key LP turbine design parameters obtained along with the annulus geometry was within the acceptable standard design limit with an estimated LP turbine isentropic efficiency of 92%. The number of LPT stator blades (NGVs) and rotor blades was estimated to be 83 stator blades and 139 rotor blades respectively. Low oligochaete diversity occurs in unpolluted and undisturbed environments. This research investigated the abundance, diversity and community structure of Oligochaetes in two tropical rainforest lakes (Obazuwa and Ozomu Lakes) in Benin City, Nigeria for over a period of one year (July 2014 to June 2015). By means of a modified Ekman grab, composite sediment samples were collected from 4 stations (two in each lake) fortnightly and analyzed in the laboratory. The sodium chloride floatation method and 1milimeter sieve were used to separate the organisms from the sediment and preserved in 10% formalin. Identification of the organisms and statistical analysis were carried out to ascertain the community structure. Three families (Naididae, Tubificidae and Aeolosomatidae) comprising of 24 taxa were represented in the two lakes. Naididae was the most diverse (twelve taxa) and the most abundant (63%). Aeolosomatidae was the least (4%), represented by two species. Species composition of the Oligochaetes did not change significantly (P>0.05), during the 12-month study though higher abundance was recorded in April and May 2015. This study has provided a baseline information on the diversity, abundance and community structure of the Oligochaetes of two tropical rainforest lakes located in two rural communities in Benin City, Nigeria. The antimony (Sb) was added in a trace amount (0.01%) to modify and cause refinement of microstructure which led to an increase in hardness with a decrease in wear loss of the alloy. The study involve production of antimony-modified Al-Si-Mg alloy, thermal ageing treatment, wear test, hardness measurement, microstructure and surface morphology examination. Five samples of the produced alloy were subjected to solution heat treatment (T6) at 540 o C for a soaking time of 1hour, quenched in warm water, 40 o C and then subjected to thermal ageing treatment at 120 o C for 1-4hours at one hour interval. One of the samples was further aged at 180 o C for a soaking time of 2hours. The samples were then subjected to wear test using Anton paar wear testing machine and the wear rate was found to be decreasing as the soaking time is increased. The wear rate value decreases from 0.1223mm 3 /N/m (control) to 0.003909mm 3 /N/m (for soaking time of 4hours at 120 o C) indicating a decrease of 68.04%. The hardness value increases from 4.91 (control) to 8.43 (for soaking time of 4hours at 120 o C) indicating an increase of 41%. Improvement in hardness value can be attributed to fine coherent clusters precipitate which serves as obstacles to the movement of dislocation. SEM micrograph shows the wear track of the specimen with the least wear lost while optical microscopy was used to reveal the microstructure of all the samples used. Standard methods were used in digesting the soil samples (experimental and control) taken from the roadsides and in determining some heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Pb, Mn, Ni, Fe, Cr and Ag) presence using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The ranges of concentrations of the heavy metals found in the samples were 3.2 - 52.6, 23.9 - 232.5, 9.8 - 51.3, 16.4 - 89.3, 7.9 - 24.5, 59.4 - 573.5, 12.4 - 89.2 and 0.00 - 0.12 mg/kg for Cu, Zn, Pb, Mn, Ni, Fe, Cr and Ag, respectively. These values were observed to be relatively lower than that stipulated by European Union standard expect Ag that was not specified in the standard. This study revealed the relatively low level of roadside soil pollution due to vehicular movement on the roads in the area of study. Improved traffic flow, good maintenance of vehicles and stringent policy on emission control are amongst possible measures suggested to curb pollution of roadside soil due to road traffics. It often becomes confusing as to which solution approach is best suited for certain VRP at hand. This paper has presented a brief theoretical description aimed at enhancing easy discrimination of the difference between the major variants of the Capacitated VRP (CVRP) and their solution algorithms using the conventional dikjstra’s algorithm for the Chinese Postman’s Problem (CPP) and the generic algorithm for the Travelling Salesman’s Problem (TSP) in ArcView and MATLAB respectively. Analysis of the results obtained within the study area show that the CPP (with a realistic path distance of 38.772Km) is better suited for CVRP in existing road networks than the TSP (with an unrealistic path distance of 19.165Km). The prepared ZnO/SiO 2 was characterized using Brunauer-Emmet-Teller Surface Area Analysis (BET), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Fourier Transfom InfraRed Spectroscopy (FTIR). Also, the effect of catalyst loading, reaction temperature and time were studied. The BET results obtained shows that there is an increase in the surface area of ZnO/SiO 2 when compared to that of the parent SiO 2 . Impregnation of ZnO unto the SiO 2 does not affect the parent structure of the SiO 2 as depicted by the XRD result. Ethylbenzene is the product obtained from the transalkylation reaction and its yield is favored at a lower catalyst loading of 0.4 wt% as compared to 0.7 wt% and 1.0 wt% weight of xylene. A study of the effect of reaction temperature at 45 minutes on the yield shows that the yield is likely to increase with temperature. The combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) was modeled with the CFM 56-5C2 aeroderivative gas turbine version. The investigation considered various heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) efficiencies and steam pressures between 80 to 90 % and 40 to 100 bar respectively in simple, reheat and recuperation gas turbine (GT) modes. Results showed that 58 % overall thermal efficiency (TE) and 26.8 MW power output (PO) were obtained at increasing HRSG efficiency and steam pressures respectively due to low exhaust gas temperature (EGT). Also owing to 1500 K reheating of the aeroderivative gas turbine, the EGT was enhanced by 64% (996.7 K). Overall PO and overall TE of 47.6 MW and 62.3 % respectively were achievable in the CCGT analysis with HRSG efficiency of 90% and increasing steam pressure from 40 to 100 bar. Conversely, a combination of reheat and recuperation had a much higher thermal efficiency of 63.4 % but a little lower exhaust gas temperature of 874.2 K. Therefore, aeroderivatives of the CFM 565-C2 gas turbine is recommended for CCGT applications due to its high thermal efficiency (> 60 %), higher power to weight ratios and high EGTs.Keywords: Combined cycle, performance, aeroderivative, gas turbine, reheat, and recuperation","PeriodicalId":236361,"journal":{"name":"Nigerian Journal of Technological Research","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115224046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
