Critical dive applications requiring the inverter and motor ask for fault diagnosis techniques in order to assure a stable operation during a time period before the system can be repaired, consequently this kind systems including normal operation and analysis fault detection becomes more and more complicated. Recently, the field of investigation is focused on electric motor faults such as the short and open circuit stator winding. This work proposes a fault detection in a single-phase induction motor by experimental and simulation results analysis obtained with a test platform. Various procedures for rapid prototyping have been proposed. However, in many cases they focus on implementation into platforms that are different from the final target. In this paper, we focus on a testing procedure for micro-controller-based control where the real final target is adopted for software testing. The test is performed without real-time constraint so that it can be performed with conventional hardware available in any office desktop. This technique results in lower voltage stress on the intermediate bus storage capacitor and improved conversion efficiency while achieving high power factor. The duty ratio is a function of the load so that the bus voltage decreases when the load becomes light. Power factor correction is obtained by adding a proper branch with passive elements at the DC-side terminals of the rectifier; it is able to make the behavior of the total DC-load quasi-resistive. The optimal values of the power factor corrector parameters are calculated bearing in mind the load and the DC-filter parameters. An analysis of its performances and of its applicability limits is developed with the help of several PSpice numerical simulations on different case-study circuits. The proposed approach can be applied successfully on uncontrolled bridge rectifiers with continuous operation mode (i.e. inductive and inductive-capacitive filter on the DC-side) and good performances are also expected for diode rectifier with output voltage regulation operated by means of DC/DC regulators. The most important perspective is represented by the substitution of the resistor of the proposed passive branch with a \"resistance emulator\" able to guarantee similar effects on the rectifier absorbed current, avoiding extra power losses.","PeriodicalId":236199,"journal":{"name":"IEEE 34th Annual Conference on Power Electronics Specialist, 2003. The three different techniques are evaluated and compared in terms of compensation performance under steady state and transient operating conditions, implementations requirements, and compensation in four wire power distribution systems, with unbalanced single phase nonlinear loads. The three techniques analyzed are the instantaneous reactive power theory (PQ theory), the synchronous reference frame theory (SRF) and peak detection method (PDM). The technical evaluation is done by considering the robustness for the operation with unbalanced and distorted supply voltages, unbalanced load currents, control signals conditioning and processing delays introduced by the implementation with a DSP. The comparison is based on theoretical analysis and simulated results obtained with Matlab. The principal conclusion is that the compensation performance of the different techniques is similar under ideal conditions, but under the presence of unbalanced and voltage distortion, the compensation performance is quite different, and not all the reference methods allows full compensation. The classical sizing methods based on experiments are effective but not optimized. They involve the increase in the designing duration and generally lead to the oversize of the filter. To reduce these stages, a mathematical model for the prediction of conducted EMI generated by a three-phase inverter is pointed out in this paper. This model, based on analytical disturbance-sources and propagation paths, including EMI filter and the induction motor, permits the estimation of common and differential modes in all the structure. Passive components and especially the filter elements have been modeled. With this method, the effect of different filter components can be evaluated by simulations. Overall control systems are composed of a speed estimator and the proposed uncertainty observer using the radial basis function networks (RBFN). The induction motor systems in the real industrial fields, the obtaining of an exact mathematical model is hardly difficult due to the unmodeled uncertainties such as parametric uncertainties and external load disturbances. In this paper, the uncertainties are approximated by the RBFN, and the control algorithm is applied to the DTC system. Control laws and adaptive laws for the bounding constant and weights in the output layer of the RBFN are established so that the whole closed loop system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov. The proposed control algorithm is relatively simple and requires no restrictive conditions on the design constants for the stability. In induction wind generators, unbalanced three phase stator voltages cause a number of problems, including overheating and stress on the mechanical components from torque pulsations. Therefore, beyond a certain amount of unbalance (for example 6%), induction wind generators are switched out of the network. In doubly-fed induction generators, control of rotor currents allows for adjustable speed operation and reactive power control. In addition, it is possible to control the rotor currents to correct for the problems caused by unbalanced stator voltages.
