Recommender Systems (RS) arose as a suitable choice to assist users in the overwhelming task of selecting audiovisual content, however, the cold-start problem normally associated to the lack of information in early RS stages, causes that user stereotyping approaches are employed meanwhile the lack of information in user profiles is overcome. This paper presents an experimental approach aimed to determine the best conditions for which users who were categorized within a determined stereotype during the cold-start stage, could migrate to a new state in which they receive personalized recommendations. Experimental results show that the best condition under the selected demographic stereotyping scheme for this transition is directly related to the number of TV programs that a user has rated while making use of the system.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124781599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This productivity problem raises the need for innovative approaches for drug-target prediction and a deeper understanding of the interplay between drugs and their target proteins. Chemogenomics is the interdisciplinary field which aims to predict gene/protein/ligand relationships. The predictions are based on the assumption that chemically similar compounds should share common targets. Here, we exploit our understanding of the network-based representation of the protein-protein interaction (PPI network) to introduce a distance between drug-targets and could verify whether it correlates with their chemical similarity. We build a fully connected graph composed of US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) — approved drugs using the Tanimoto 2D similarity based on fingerprints from the SMILES representation of the chemical structure. Our analysis of 1165 FDA-approved drugs indicates that the chemical similarity of drugs predicts closeness of their targets in the human interactome.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"243 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115639835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

QSS methods of order n, at their inner loop, neet to compute the minimum positive root of a n-degree polynomial. The lack of analytical expressions for the roots of polynomial of degree greater than four limits the QSS methods to fourth order or less. We make an observation which, combined with the usage of root-finding techniques, allows the generalization to QSS of any order. Moreover, we show experimentally that, considering our algorithmic improvements, higher order methods do require considerably fewer iterations than lower order ones.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125012312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are not many papers that study this issue holistically and uncover the current state of this integration. Aim: This study sets out to answer the following research question: What is the current state of integration between agile processes and usability? Method: We conduct a systematic mapping study (SMS). A SMS is a form of systematic literature review that aims to identify and classify the research papers published about a specified issue. Results: We retrieved a total of 161 primary studies, which we categorized according to four criteria: process, practice, team and technology integration. The largest group refers to process integration with a total of 76 primary studies. Judging by the increase in the number of publications over the last decade, the integration of human-computer interaction (HCI) activities and techniques into the ASDP is an issue of notable interest. Conclusions: There are very few papers that study the literature holistically and report the current state of usability in the ASDP. Additionally, there are no formalized proposals for adopting usability techniques in ASDP.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126730347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, an appropriate processing of data coming from different sources is required, which presents an important challenge given the large volume of data that e-government systems handle. This volume of data is also increased with data coming from autonomous sensors (e.g. reporting carbon emission in protected areas) and from citizens providing information (e.g. illegal dumping) in a voluntary way. Complex Event Processing (CEP) technologies allow processing large amount of event data and detecting patterns from them. However, they do not provide support for geographic information which is essential for monitoring and controlling regulations which apply to specific geographical areas. This paper proposes a geospatial extension for CEP that allows monitoring environmental factors considering the geographic location of the processed data.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122801279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The password management process is time consuming and sus-ceptible to security issues. Moreover, cloud computing solutions already run into related problems. Single Sign-On is a way to handle all the multiple accounts that a user may have and OpenID Connect has a great adoption as a Single Sign-On solution. As well as OpenID Connect, OpenStack is growing as a cloud software due its large community and because its open source code. In this sense, our goal is to analyze the security aspects related to the usage of OpenID Connect, a single sign-on mechanism, in cloud computing solutions based on OpenStack using a external Identity Provider.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124001903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional search offers only solutions that take into account just the individual characteristics of the results, and not the relations they have with the rest of the universe. Typically, we are given an ordered list of the results related to the search criterion, which implies the need of changing several times the terms of the query to get to a solution that is more adequate to the intended search goal. As a solution to this problem, Composite Retrieval proposes that the results to a query may be grouped in sets of items (bundles), related through some similarity criterion, but at the same time are complementary. In this work we propose heuristic algorithms for Composite Retrieval which are evaluated experimentally, showing performance improvements over the previous results presented in the literature.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"40 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114013730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are algorithms to compute this reliability exactly, but they have exponential complexity, making the problem intractable for large or even medium sized networks. In this case Monte Carlo simulation is a simple and straightforward alternative tool to provide a reliability estimation. However, standard Monte Carlo is efficient only if the reliability is not extremely high, otherwise variance reduction techniques are required. This work explores different methods designed to reduce the variance of the estimators in this context. These methods are introduced together with a brief review of the algorithms in which they are based. Also, their precision and computational efficiency is discussed, giving some insights on their relative performance and suitability.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125482091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of SoS is to perform tasks that could not be achieved by these constituents separately; besides, unique SoS characteristics impose new challenges to their development processes. We conducted a Systematic Mapping to identify initiatives, trends, and challenges in the SoS development and, as a result, 32 initiatives were identified. We also evaluated these initiatives with regard to the adherence to the technical processes of IEEE/ISO/IEC 15288:2015 and to the software implementation essential processes of IEEE/ISO/IEC 12207:2008. In general, these initiatives emphasize artifacts in the early stages of the development processes, addressing mainly requirements and architecture. Moreover, 17 of them emphasize the testing activity. We also summarized the SoS characteristics addressed in the studies and discuss the main trends and challenges.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130241062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our initative is motivated by the advantages offered by this scheme for parallel processing. We propose three implementations, a sequential code (in C) and two parallel versions (C-CUDA and C with OpenMP). The experimental comparison is focused on the performance of each implementation using different grid sizes, and in the case of the OpenMP implementation, several number of threads. Additionally, we measured the accurancy of this scheme when the detail of the discretization grows. The results show that the parallel implementations reach significant speed up compared with the sequential counterpart. In addition, the GPU variant offers an further runtime reduction of up to 10x.","PeriodicalId":235402,"journal":{"name":"2016 XLII Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134140346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
