These instruments play a key role in the industry, such as in manufacturing and quality assurance. However, conventional profilometry techniques require direct contact with the object. In this work, we developed a practical and low-cost optical profilometer for contactless profilometry. The proposed profilometer is based on a laser triangulation system. A laser spot is projected onto the surface of an object, which is captured by a camera. The images are processed to detect the laser spot's location and obtain the object's surface height through calibration. We designed and built the translation stage to process the object's surface. To validate the proposed approach, the model was solved and compared with Aspen Plus. In addition, the dynamic model was solved considering variations in the number of stages in the system (from 29 to 33), thus, changing the variable and equation number. An external hip protector (PC) with monitoring and automatic fall notification was carried out. The current hip protectors that integrate the automatic notification function are very high cost, so this function is incorporated into the known hip protectors that may have a high incidence on that 20% of older adults who suffer a fall per year. Therefore, this research project aims to develop an external hip protector for older adults with automatic fall monitoring and notification. In this way, the need arises to employ adaptive controllers such as the BFOA and implement it in real systems in which its functionality can be analyzed. This article presents the implementation and analysis in a fully instrumented functional prototype with industrial sensors. The work methodology is documented from the acquisition of the physical variables through the OPC client-server communication; the synchronization of the excitation of the input variable (variable speed drive) and obtaining the evolution of the flow in time; with the experimental data, the identification methodology by relative least squares was used to obtain the transfer function. To deal with this problem, this article proposes two different schemes to compensate for backlash effects in a system with output-backlash and a single encoder. First, a mechatronic system model with backlash is presented. Then, a parameter estimation method is presented to obtain accurate parameters of the backlash model. Later, an Active Disturbance Rejection Controller (ADRC) is designed and applied in order to evaluate: a) two backlash compensation schemes, and b) two backlash inverse models. A set of tests with different backlash angles and backlash uncertainties are proposed to assess the performance of the controller and the backlash compensation schemes. The objective is to be able to adapt to the human form and be adjustable for patients between 20 and 59 years of age, seeking to comply with passive rehabilitation and strengthening of the muscles, in order to regain normal movement of the joint. For the proper control of this type of process, the influence of one control loop on another must be taken into account, and the objective is to reduce or eliminate the effect of this interaction and control the ties independently. Despite the importance of this type of process, its teaching is not standard in automatic undergraduate control courses. The GUI layout provides several tools which can develop different system analysis by employing a transfer function; it incorporates control systems (CS) fundamentals such as time-domain response, transfer function, pole-zero location, root locus, frequency domain response, steady-state error, disturbance response, controller design and tuning, Routh stability criteria, and Jury stability criteria, among others. For each simulation, users can view the output response as well as run several time domains plots. This need allows the reduction of greenhouse gases produced by the energetic industry, particularly with the use of fossil fuels and their effects on global warming. Therefore, these implementations need to cover the minimum requirements as balanced energy price, power demand, and a higher ROI, among others, to be reliable and compete with traditional sources. This paper presents a novel approach for sizing a hybrid renewable energy system, using data-driven decisions to meet the demand of a population in Barranquilla city.
