The fairness is establishing independence between user location and the initial access signals received power level. We propose codeword synthesis with phase-only control which is beneficial for passive implementation of the receiver (Rx) and improves power utilization at the transmitter (Tx), which reduces mutual coupling impact for both Rx and Tx directions. In contrast to classical shaped beam synthesis methods where desired radiation patterns are targeted, we target the fairness of the received power distribution at the desired coverage area by solving a multi-objective nonconvex optimization problem. We address the known nonconvex optimization issues of initial state sensitivity and convergence rate by splitting the problem into a sequence of concatenated sub-problems, where the solution of one sub-problem defines the initial state for the next sub-problem.","PeriodicalId":234877,"journal":{"name":"2022 14th Global Symposium on Millimeter-Waves & Terahertz (GSMM)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125069578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We designed the main reflector to have a diameter of 30 mm to obtain a gain of 30 dBi or more and a relatively wider beam width than a general Cassegrain antenna. The proposed antenna has a gain of 36.8 dBi and a beam width of 2.5° at 245 GHz. The received power level and radiation pattern were measured by configuring a measurement environment to measure the performance of the sub-THz antenna. The commercial horn antenna and the proposed Cassegrain antenna were compared and measured. The transmitter consists of an analog signal generator (ASG) and an up-converter (UC), and a commercial horn antenna with 24 dBi gain at 245 GHz is attached to the upconverter. The receiver consists of a signal analyzer (SA) and a down-converter (DC), and the proposed Cassegrain antenna is attached to the down-converter. We compared the measured and simulated results to obtain reliable measurement results without using an anechoic chamber.","PeriodicalId":234877,"journal":{"name":"2022 14th Global Symposium on Millimeter-Waves & Terahertz (GSMM)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122897082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the 5G era still needs more innovative solutions to meet higher level specifications. Glass materials have received a lot of attention in recent years because they have many advantages in fabricating sensitive 5G components. This paper compares various properties, between glass and incumbent materials, such as, surface roughness, fine patterning and vias, Young’s modulus, etc. Additionally, various types of Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) are introduced in this paper because FSS is a basic technology for Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) applied to 5G and 6G communications. Furthermore, 6G will use higher frequency bands than 5G, so it is expected that high quality material like glass will be increasingly required.","PeriodicalId":234877,"journal":{"name":"2022 14th Global Symposium on Millimeter-Waves & Terahertz (GSMM)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123204321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regardless the choice of architecture for beamforming, a key component of the base station transmitter is the RF frontend. In this paper, we investigate the linear and nonlinear performance in a gain/noise/linearity trade-off for the LNA. The circuits are fabricated using OMMIC technologies and characterized on board over the 24-30 GHz frequency band. Measurements demonstrate that it is interesting to use a GaN in a frontend thanks to its additional advantages in terms of linearity.","PeriodicalId":234877,"journal":{"name":"2022 14th Global Symposium on Millimeter-Waves & Terahertz (GSMM)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122091228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to advances in CMOS technology, a typical 5G mmWave TRX can achieve a high output power of 10-15 dBm and minimum reference signal receive power (RSRP) of approximately -140 dBm [1]. However, the path to realizing the full potential of the millimeter wave technology is hindered by numerous technical challenges including size, cost, and power constraints. The research and development (R&D) group at KREEEMO Inc. has been focusing on integrating antennas and RF front-ends which can energy-efficiently improve mmWave beamforming coverage in indoor and outdoor scenarios. The speaker will discuss (1) current research and development on antenna packaging technology, (2) the hybrid antenna-on-display (AoD) and antenna-in-package (AiP) beamforming architecture featuring 360° beamforming coverage in a cellular device, and (3) the AiP design with stackable patch antenna (SPA) technology.","PeriodicalId":234877,"journal":{"name":"2022 14th Global Symposium on Millimeter-Waves & Terahertz (GSMM)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114761668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
