Most of these injuries are caused by preventable accidents. Inhalers used in as asthma medication and in some respiratory diseases could contain compressed gas. These inhalers could be exploded by high temperature and cause traumatic injuries. This is the first report of an inhaler explosion causes an OGI with blow out fracture (BOF) and it ends with evisceration. In this article, we present a 58 years old woman with OGI and BOF requiring evisceration as a result of the explosion of an inhaler with containing compressed gas used for her asthma. These inhalers should have warning signs and labels to prevent trauma caused by inhalers. Kan","doi":"10.5336/caserep.2019-71326","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5336/caserep.2019-71326","url":null,"abstract":"ABS TRACT Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is an important disease characterized by recurrent episodes of angioedema without urticaria, which most often affects the skin or mucosal tissues of the upper respiratory, genitourinary and gastrointestinal tracts. The angioedema is mostly self-limited and resolves in a few days without treatment, however in some conditions such as upper respiratory involvement, may cause fatal asphyxiation. Gastrointestinal attacks are experienced by a majority of patients with HAE and can be the principal presentation. The diagnosis of hereditary angioedema may be delayed in many cases. Many patients with undiagnosed HAE may undergo inappropriate abdominal surgery. In this study, we are presenting a 14 years-old patient and his mother who are diagnosed with type 1 HAE, predominantly suffering from abdominal pain attacks due to intestinal angioedema. The patient underwent appendectomy and two times diagnostic laparotomy at different times due to unexplained abdominal pain. Erbıyık","doi":"10.5336/caserep.2019-72516","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5336/caserep.2019-72516","url":null,"abstract":"Tubal pregnancy accounts for 95% of the ectopic pregnancies, followed by ovarian (3.2%) and abdominal (1.3%) pregnancies.2 In abdominal pregnancies, the gestational sac is commonly implanted in the pelvis or in highly vascular areas, such as the liver and mesentery. Abdominal pregnancy is more common in developing countries. It can reach up to term, but fetal mortality is approximately 95%. The incidence of congenital anomaly is 20-40%, and abnormalities, such as intrauterine growth retardation, fetal pulmonary hypoplasia, compression deformities, and facial and extremity anomalies, can be seen. Therefore, perinatal mortality and morbidity are increased. Risk factors of abdominal pregnancy include pelvic inflammatory disease, multiparity, endometriosis, assisted reproductive techniques, and tubal injury. However, the primary reason for abdominal pregnancy in developing countries is the prevalence of increased pelvic inflammatory disease.3 The diagnostic criteria of primary abdominal pregnancies are as follows: normal tubae and ovaries; no uteroplacental fistula, early enough to rule out the possibility of secondary nidation; and presence of pregnancy on the peritoneal surface. Primary abdominal pregnancy refers to pregnancy where in the implantation of the fertilized ovum occurs directly in the abdominal cavity. In such cases, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are intact. Secondary abdominal pregnancy accounts for most cases of advanced extrauterine pregnancy.
