The first instance is Prague Province Synod in 1860, which was followed by other diocese synods in the second half of the 19th century. The second process consisted in repeated gatherings of Land Syndicate of Catholic Clergy, a professional organisation of clerics, at the turn of the 19the and 20th century, which originally started as an effort to reform ecclesiastical art, but later formulated reform goals regarding ecclesiastical lifestyle as well. The third processes revolved around the Plenary Assembly of the Czech Catholic Church in years 1997 to 2005. {"title":"Via Media ako ekleziologický model a teologická metóda Johna Henryho Newmana (1801 – 1890)","authors":"Andrej Mária Čaja","doi":"10.54937/vt.2022.21.1.45-64","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.54937/vt.2022.21.1.45-64","url":null,"abstract":"An attentive analysis of the concept of Via Media in the theology of John Henry Newman shows that while his ecclesiological model of the Anglican Church, conceived as a middle way between the extremes of the Roman Catholicism and the popular Protestantism, proved to be only a theory on paper, the theological method, which derived from it, was maintained by Newman throughout his whole theological career, i. e. both in his Anglican and Catholic period. His theological method of balancing and oscillating between various unilateral positions is exemplified in some of his polemical Anglican writings and in his major mariological contribution Letter to Pusey, which paves the way between maximalist and minimalist tendencies. It begins by briefly introducing the general usage and method of identifying OT-quotes, with a brief statistical overview of them in this NT-writing. It then discusses this royal psalm , which is the pillar of Christology throughout the NT, and its application in the Epistle. He discusses the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods. The focus of the present study is the function of Ps 110:4 and its incorporation with the exegesis in ch. 5. It compares the accounts of the human high priest and Christ, analyzing Hebr 5:1-10 in detail. It shows how through speech one expresses existential questions, how speech can grasp the search and finding of the good, the true, the beautiful, how speech formulates the question for God, how it asks for God's name. At a deeper and more fundamental level, then, it traces speech as that which speaks to us, dealing with the relationship of speech and understanding, the possibilities of communication, dialogue, and, finally, how we can bear witness in speech to that which is inexpressible. The French theologian presents paradox in an original way in order to find ways of drawing on biblical and patristic insights and to address the issues raised by the modern world for the Church. Paradox allows one to see the union of opposites while maintaining their individual distinctions. From the paradoxical point of view, de Lubac defines the Church as a mystery, keeping her human and divine elements in tension. This Church is relational in the divine, mystical, sacramental, historical, and social dimension. In it, there arise and live the paradoxes of the natural and supernatural dignity of man, of individual and collective salvation, of his temporal-eternal and visible-invisible aspect, of holiness and sin. The paper seeks to identify the basic features of Rahner’s theory of knowledge, to capture its character, and to clarify its philosophical-theological context. It defines its starting points, describes its basic structure, and defines basic concepts. They played a major role early in the council’s reception but were later sidelined. It draws primarily upon the thought of Romano Guardini. The aim is to find the reason why, despite the secularization efforts in recent decades, we observe a return to spirituality and to religious experience. The starting point is the human being and its constitutive openness to something transcendent, to the sacrum, which enables him to live a religious experience. Then the study pays attention to the sources, subject and object of religious experience.
