This is due to the vast data size, number of sequences and number of dimensions that lead to a very costly querying process. In this paper, we demonstrate, for the first time, the use of three dimensionality reduction techniques (random projection (RP), Down sampling (DS) and Averaging (Avg)) in time series similarity searches. Two different similarity measurements are used for this investigation; dynamic time warping (DTW) and Euclidean distance. A thorough study has been conducted in this paper based on very exhaustive experiments. Results show the individual performance of Avg, RP, and DS in the two similarity measurements in different dimensions. Simulation shows that a high similarity matching accuracy can still be achieved after a significant dimension reduction onto lower dimensions.","PeriodicalId":234556,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117311533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the existing CVEs supporting systems are tuned to specific tasks and their architecture are, typically, tightly coupled to wired network. This paper describes the proposal and evaluation of Gnutella peer-to-peer network over mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) in order to support large-scale CVEs. The overlay network manages the mobile device resources with a fair workload by using mobile Ultrapeer and node states. A novel discovery technique, in which mobile nodes are found through both their state and their physical position in the CVE, is presented.","PeriodicalId":234556,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121668615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence, obtaining all SNPs from human populations is one of the primary goals of studies in human genomics. In this paper, a data fusion method based on multiple parallel classifiers for reconstruction of haplotypes from a given sample Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) is proposed. First, we design a single greedy algorithm for solving haplotype reconstructions. [2] is used as an efficient approach to be combined with first classification method. The methods and information fusion approach are aimed specifically for increasing reconstruction rate of the problem in Minimum Error Correction Model (MEC) which is one of haplotyping problem models belonging to NP-hard class. Designing a parallel classifier, which helps us cover the single classifier's weaknesses, was the focus of our research.","PeriodicalId":234556,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124093213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An example demonstrates the different stages for code generation, evaluation and conversion before such code can be used in process industries. Systematic approaches are necessary when such source code is embedded in process units. To the best knowledge of the authors, Matlab/Simulink source code has not been transferred on safety PLC before. Matlab/Simulink is an advanced and matured programming environment, especially for simulations of engineering processes and systems. Hardly no hardware exists, when it comes to download the developed algorithms and to use it in real world applications and so far this approach is the only one for using developed and tested Matlab/Simulink software on an safety related system.","PeriodicalId":234556,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130395302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since their inception in the late 90's they have affected end users and system integrators as well as product manufacturers. For the first time, end users and system integrators have standards which are accepted worldwide and guide them throughout the safety life-cycle of their facilities. For product manufacturers the standard IEC 61508 provides a guideline for the design of safety related equipment. The purpose of this paper is to discuss practical experience concerning the use of the standards. Benefits and problems for manufacturers, users and certification agencies are discussed in relation to the approval, assessment and certification of safety-related equipment and systems. The paper address the use of reliability data, the need for measures and techniques for avoidance and control of failures, and the positive effects of having functional safety management and qualified engineers/experts in place. The paper also discuss the relation between IEC 61511 (specific to the process industry) and IEC 61508.","PeriodicalId":234556,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129782843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The time features can be separated from multimedia systems based on separation of concerns, and expressed as a real-time aspect by formal method. There is no requirement that different aspects of a system should be expressed in the same language. So the different aspects can be specified by one formal specification technique or different formal specification techniques. In this paper we provide some ideas for aspect- oriented formal specification of multimedia systems. Multimedia systems can be divided into different aspects, each aspect can be specified independently. After each aspect has been accomplished, it can be woven back to the system. This aspect oriented formal specification method simplifies the requirement analysis process of complex multimedia systems. Two case studies illustrate the specification process of aspect-oriented formal specification for multimedia systems.","PeriodicalId":234556,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130960262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To extend the concept of licensing to cover various application domains of digital rights management, we first analyze the concepts of permission and obligation with some real-world examples which are not covered by current XML-based Rights Expression Languages (RELs), and then discuss how to formally specify licenses in terms of deontic and temporal logic with OTS/CafeOBJ method. Several important deontic and temporal modeling issues of licenses are also addressed for discussion. The proposed formal license language can be used not only for the formal specifications of licenses which capture both static observations and dynamic state transitions of the licenses, but also for the formal verification of licenses thanks to the executability and theorem proving facility of CafeOBJ.","PeriodicalId":234556,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE/ACS International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128305086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
