Approximately 70% of the worldwide cultivated land suffers from phosphorous deficiency, and it has recently been estimated that the worldwide phosphorous resources will be shattered by the end of this century, thereby increasing the need to develop phosphorus-efficient crops. A greater understanding of how plants can maintain yield with lower phosphorous availability is highly desirable to both breeders and farmers. For this research, we focused on the phosphorus-starvation tolerance 1 ( PSTOL1 ) gene, which is known to be involved in enhancing early root growth, thereby enabling plants to acquire more phosphorus and other nutrients and enhancing grain yield in phosphorus-deficient soil. As there is no reported structure and function of the PSTOL1 gene, this project involves a distinct set of opportunities and challenges and requires different approaches to model the interaction between PSTOL1 and the gene phosphorous uptake 1 ( PUP1 ). This article covers the modeling, docking, and simulation of PSTOL1 to check the protein stability and its behavior over time. The physiochemical properties were ascertained, a phylogenetic tree was constructed to find the evolutionary relationship, and the conserved domains were analyzed for functional annotation. This study reports that the advancement of the PSTOL1 -mediated phosphorous uptake 1 ( PUP1 ) signaling cascade using structural bioinformatics is a potent biological mechanism against phosphorous starvation in wheat.","PeriodicalId":23365,"journal":{"name":"TURKISH JOURNAL OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.9,"publicationDate":"2024-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140755815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address this, we focused on four types of artificial forest communities, each 30 years old, with varying ratios of coniferous and broad-leaved trees (0%–20%, 20%–50%, 50%–80%, 80%–100%) in typical limestone mountainous areas of the northern subtropical region. These forest communities were selected as research subjects to assess understory vegetation diversity, litter fall, and fine root characteristics. The study investigates the influence of various mixing ratios on the restoration of understory vegetation and soil systems. The findings reveal significant differences in litter fall stock, water capacity, annual decomposition rate, nutrient change rate, and fine root biomass of litter fall among different mixing proportions. With an increase in the proportion of coniferous trees, both standing litter fall and annual yield exhibit a decrease. Consequently, an effective strategy for restoring and enhancing fragile ecosystems in limestone mountainous areas involves establishing mixed forests or conducting forest transformations based on a moderate mixing proportion.","PeriodicalId":23365,"journal":{"name":"TURKISH JOURNAL OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.9,"publicationDate":"2024-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140758688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various sections derived from distinct plant parts were examined, revealing potent inhibitory potential. Notably, the methanol extract sourced from the plant’s stem displayed remarkable efficacy with an IC 50 value of 0.156 µM. Total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity analyses were conducted, highlighting variations across plant parts and solvent types. Qualitative and quantitative phenolic compound content in the extracts was elucidated by LC-MS/MS analysis, revealing higher levels of quinic acid, fumaric acid, and chlorogenic acid. Molecular docking studies further substantiated the inhibitory roles of key compounds like chlorogenic acid and fumaric acid, elucidating their interactions with specific amino acid residues within the AR enzyme’s active site and shedding light on the underlying mechanisms. Collectively, this study underscores Viscum album L. extracts as promising candidates for aldose reductase modulation.
