In the course of these studies, we investigated information about all patient visits within Stockholm County during the outbreak period, with registry over all diagnosed MRSA cases. As part of this project, we developed methods for analyzing the contact network of persons who had visited the same care facility, as well as methods for analyzing the affects of network structure on the transmission of MRSA. We also studied matrixes of disease transition in hospital populations (infected patients vs. Merely contagious patients). In the stationary case: (a) we have estimator matrixes of probabilities and other statistical properties of the contact networks. In the time evolution case: (b) we divided the outbreak into smaller, periodic intervals and looked at how MRSA spread over time. The MCqMC (Markov chain quasi Monte Carlo) method and artificial networks (whose main parameter is the number of contacts during a specific time interval) help us to understand real and simulated-paths of disease transition. Probability matrices (b) were used to find the mechanism of change states (vectors of all population, 0-susceptible or 1-infected).","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"150-151 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130660168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present a novel method for evaluation of the performance of algorithms for detection of compromised social media accounts. In short, we create two artificially \"hijacked accounts\" by randomly selecting two genuine user accounts and after a number of successive posts switch the remaining posts between them. This allows us to create large amounts of training and/or test data, something which is not easy to find for this problem. Further, the developed method is utilized to evaluate the performance of a modified version of the existing COMPA system.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121850513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More than 20 years of academic research points that learning in groups is more effective than learning individually [1]. Many researches indicate that suitable strategy for creating collaborative learning groups is very important for group's efficiency. In this paper we analyze our original algorithm for creating heterogeneous groups [2] to assert a communication between their members. For this task Social Network Analysis is used. Such analysis delivers very interesting information about relationships in groups and allows to select less active group mates.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132332080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been shown that performing simple natural language processing steps prior to classification, provides inspiring results without redundant computation overhead. The documents containing subjective opinions were classified using N-gram and Bi-gram language model that is able to encode some of complex word phrases. The experiments carried out on two real datasets taken from different domains proved that learning on one dataset and testing on another, which is commonly called transfer learning, can be effective and may result in very high classification quality.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115585545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paradigm, a group of hosts exchange information between its members in a synchronous way. We focus on two impairment aware dynamic routing approaches for m2m communication: direct full mesh connectivity and replicated transmission using rendezvous servers. Furthermore, in the latter case several client-server assignment (CSA) schemes are proposed. We provision m2m transmissions in Elastic Optical Networks (EONs), being the next step in development of optical communication. The main contribution of the paper is performance comparison of several impairment aware routing schemes using the metrics of m2m session blocking probability and spectrum usage. In our extensive simulations, dynamic server assignment using fallback replica selection always outperformed the static client-replica coupling.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124011986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The continued collaboration of groups of users who share interests in the same topics essentially make up communities, which are here referred to as topic-based communities. Analyzing the dynamics of such communities is key to understanding network processes such as the flow of users and information in the network. In this paper, we study how users relate to topic-based communities and how such relationship shapes long-term community dynamics. Using a large dataset collected from Stack Overflow, a popular programming oriented Q&A site, we investigate several factors related to the evolution of communities in the site, such as user participation and the importance of revisits for community sustainability. Moreover, we develop a model to describe community evolution based on user activity which incorporates key aspects of community dynamics, including member revisits and the flow of users across related communities.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125180227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While several previous attempts have been made to classify bot accounts in the spam domain, there are (to the best of our knowledge) no previous studies on detection of automated accounts in a military information operation context. Traditional machine learning approaches to bot detection rely on manual annotation of training sets from which classifiers can be learnt, which requires a large manual effort. We present a semi automated alternative to manual annotation which significantly reduces the effort and resources needed, and hence speeds up the process of adapting classifiers to new domains. Our application of the method to Twitter data from the Russia-Ukraine conflict and our classification results suggest that good classification performance still can be obtained despite generating training sets semi-automatically rather than using manual annotation.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127079969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To detect these circles the users' network is investigated in two different ways: (1) based on features that the users own, and (2) based on similarity between the central user and his friends. In both approaches, the user profile information is taken into account. The overlapping and nested circles are also detected. The algorithm described here successfully achieved a high matching rate between generated and hand-labeled real-world circles, albeit the best results were achieved only with a large number of generated circles. The experiments showed that both developed algorithms produced distinctly better results than the already known methods. Further, the former based on common features gives better results than the latter based on similarity.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128770722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has several practical applications such as viral marketing. In this paper, we propose a new method (Linear Threshold Behavioral Model) for modeling the spread of influence in social networks. Experiments were conducted on three, real-world datasets regarding the domain of recommendation services and the method was compared with popular, state-of-the-art methods devoted to modeling the spread of influence. The results indicate a high accuracy of the method.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121743848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As such, we model and analyze the network formed by female fashion models all around the world, which we call FMNet. Inspired by similar approaches in the actors and music industry, we compare our empirical results with Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus online friendship networks. As a first study of its kind in the fashion world, we create a network based on physical similarities, and by using centrality measures and network motifs, we prove that FMNet has all the properties of a social collaboration network. We discover and explain role of the most influential nodes (in terms of betweenness centrality) and communities (in terms of eigenvector centrality) in FMNet. The physical patterns found in this study offer a better understanding over the evolving trends in the fashion world.","PeriodicalId":231985,"journal":{"name":"2015 Second European Network Intelligence Conference","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114326753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
