To avoid false alarms, the FDI scheme must be robust enough to handle all unknown input that might confuse the fault detection system. The aim objective of this work is to use wavelets to increase the robustness of residuals to measurement noise. Our approach is tested in simulation on an alcoholic fermentation process. The faults are modelled as changes in the system parameters and residuals are generated using a set of adaptive observers.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116671557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of bilateral control system with time-delay is treated as a design method for the control systems of non-minimum phase time-delay systems. First, the parameterization of all stabilizing controllers for a certain class of non-minimum time-delay system is given. Using the parameterization of all stabilizing controllers, a design method for each controller is proposed. Since this method does not treat the time-delay of the bilateral control system as being uncertain, high-performance control characteristics can be obtained for the bilateral control system.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114987854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The QoS is given in terms of service delay, which is defined as the time it takes for a source to get admitted into the network after it initiates its intended request, packet/cell losses, and transmission delay (time taken to complete transmission from its initiation). AAC uses the following information - the available capacity from a novel adaptive bandwidth estimation scheme, a congestion indicator derived from a congestion controller, peak cell rate estimate from new sources, along with the desired QoS metrics, and outputs an 'admit' or 'reject' decision signal to the new sources while guaranteeing QoS and network utilization. Simulation results are presented by streaming ON/OFF and video data into the network. Results show that the proposed AAC admits significantly more traffic compared to other available admission control schemes thereby guaranteeing high network utilization while maintaining the desired QoS.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123485002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The neural control system consists of two stages: first, identification (modeling) of the secondary path of active noise control using RBF networks and its learning algorithm, and secondly neural control of the primary path based on the neural model obtained in the first stage. A tapped delay time is introduced in front of the neural controller, and another tapped delay line is inserted between controller neural networks and model neural networks. An algorithm referred to as FX-RBF is proposed to account for secondary path effects of the control system arising in active noise control. The resulting algorithm turns out to be the filtered-X version of the standard RBF learning algorithm. We address centralized and decentralized controller configurations and their DSP implementation is carried out. The effectiveness of the neural controller is demonstrated by applying the algorithm to active noise control within a 3-D enclosure to generate quiet zones around error microphones. Results of real-time experiments show 10-30 dB noise attenuation, better than those obtained by classical least mean-square techniques such as FX-LMS.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122842567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a shunt-type configuration, the APF is controlled such that the current drawn by the APF from utility is equal to the current harmonics and reactive current required for the load. To attain the time-optimal response of the APF supply current, a 2D deadbeat control scheme is applied to the APF current control. Furthermore, in order to cancel both the delay in the 2D deadbeat control scheme and the one in DSP control strategy, an adaptive line enhancer (ALE) is introduced for the purpose of predicting the desired value of three sampling periods. ALE also provides the robustness to the deadbeat control system. Due to ALE the settling time in a transient state is made short. On the other hand, the steady state total harmonic distortion ratio,of source currents can be reduced comparable to the case of ideal identification of the controlled system. The experimental results obtained from a DSP-based APF are reported. The compensating ability of this APF is very good in terms of accuracy and responsiveness.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126415169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed memory, each memory is hierarchically stored based an the frequency recall. Moreover, the number of checked memories is varied based on the available computational resource for the action acquisition in order to treat the trade-off between the computational amount for the memory retrieval and the one of the search. When the search system utilises stored memories, the one with the highest frequency of recall is started checking from. This makes the efficient retrieval possible even if the available computational resource for the memory retrieval is not enough. In this paper, the proposed method is applied to the action acquisition for autonomous mobile robots in the moving obstacles' avoidance problem. Its usefulness is shown through some experimental result's and the verification.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131649247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For such systems, techniques based on cross-validation to achieve regularization or model selection are not possible, and classical least square techniques are not reliable when the dynamics of the system are highly nonlinear. To overcome these problems, an identification algorithm devised from Sutton's dynamic learning rate techniques and based on a learning window and forgetting factor criterion has been used. In doing so, the proposed algorithm avoids the need for heuristic choices of the initial conditions and noise covariance matrices required by Kalman filtering. The starting point for this research is a generic computational architecture arising from the study of the control state perspective to mind. Variations on this architecture have been used to investigate questions about the nature of autonomy, emergence, belief management and motivation (and other control states) in synthetic agents. A number of different domains have been used, for example simple a-life environments, simulated robotic factories, five-a-side football, Tileworld and the game of Go. Due to the nature and scope of the work not all issues were addressed in any one domain. This raises questions about such endeavours. Given that it may be necessary to apportion fundamental research questions across different projects, can generalised conclusions be justifiably made from this division of research? The suggestion made here is that any such conclusions can only be justified in the light of subsequent integrative research. Current research directions are described in terms of these integrative questions.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115482173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
