A fuzzy PD controller is used to improve the transient performance whenever the system exhibits an oscillatory or overshoot behavior. Repetitive controller is applied to generate high-quality sinusoidal output voltage in steady state. Thus, the fuzzy and repetitive controllers can be combined to take advantage of their positive attributes. The control scheme is implemented using a TI TMS320F240 DSP in a 400 Hz, 6 kW prototype. The theoretical analysis and experimental results prove that the proposed control scheme is able to produce a low total harmonic distortion during steady-state operation and good transient responses.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122121541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, OR-logic is easily enforced using a colored Petri net. A colored Petri net place, named colored monitor place, is designed to monitor the states of constraints. A so-called guard function of colored Petri nets that maps certain transitions into a Boolean expression is suitably defined on the colored sets. The maximally permissive control is then obtained via the guard function. In addition, a constraint transformation method for marked graphs with uncontrollable transitions is proposed.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114370223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A feature-based multi-stage fuzzy logic (MSFL) sensor fusion system is developed for target recognition, which is capable of mapping noisy sensor inputs into reliable decisions. The robot exploration and path planning are based on a grid map oriented reinforcement path learning system (GMRPL), which allows for long-term predictions and path adaptation via dynamic interactions with physical environments. In our implementation, the MSFL and GMRPL are integrated into a subsumption architecture for intelligent target-collecting applications. The subsumption architecture is a layered reactive agent structure that enables the robot to implement higher-layer functions including path learning and target recognition regardless of lower-layer functions such as obstacle detection and avoidance. Real-world application using a Khepera robot shows the robustness and flexibility of the developed system in dealing with robotic behavior such as target collecting in an ever-changing physical environment.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114697300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the paper focuses on virtual environment (VE) based haptics, results can also apply to teleoperation. The proposed method considers extending our preliminary work where Smith prediction principle has been adapted on delayed haptic feedback interaction. We shall show that this proposed approach is easy to implement and is original since it investigates another way to formulate stable haptic feedback algorithms. It requires to know only the model of the master interface or the haptic display. Stability and robustness analysis are thoroughly discussed. Though recently some robust control and adaptive control schemes were incorporated in the impedance control for uncertain constrained robot systems, most of them still require some exact information of the modelling such as the regressor matrix and nominal values of the dynamic terms. In this paper, a model free neural network based adaptive impedance control scheme is developed. The controller does not require dynamic modelling of the system, and the weights of the neural network are tuned directly with the impedance tracking errors. It guarantees that the desired impedance is achieved asymptotically and both the position errors and force errors are bounded. Simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the scheme.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132505902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This provides an example of eliminating positional uncertainty with a unique constant input. From another point of view, the height of the bean in the bowl can be considered as an energy function V of position X of the bean in the horizontal plane when the bean touches the bowl. V is a proper function of ||X||. The gravity input decreases V in all the region of the bowl. Therefore the system is asymptotically stable at the bottom of the bowl, because V is a Lyapunov function. In practice, if the motion region of the system in the configuration space has one or more bowl-like region, a unique constant input can be designed to reduce the uncertainty of the system state. In this paper, the works in two important traditional areas are shown. It proves that there are always some attractive regions in the motion regions of a general peg-hole system with a fixed angle and also of the polyhedral part in 3D. Therefore, it is possible to design a unique constant sensorless input to reduce the uncertainty of the systems with no additional advice.","PeriodicalId":228502,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE Internatinal Symposium on Intelligent Control","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133112921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
