After treatment, there was a rapid improvement of the skin lesions and pruritus. The dermatological examination was within normal limits and lice were absent on day 28. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first published report of the use of an isoxazoline to treat a biting louse infestation caused by H. spiniger in a dog.","PeriodicalId":22603,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Veterinary Dermatology","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72960342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Histopathological examination findings revealed vascular dilations along with enlargement of the sebaceous glands. Clinically and histopathologically, the lesions spontaneously regressed with maturity and did not reappear. It was suspected that the pubertal endocrine system might have been involved in the pathogenesis.","PeriodicalId":22603,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Veterinary Dermatology","volume":"110 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73926288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Histopathological examination of a punch biopsy sample suggested the lesion was a vascular malformation. After the punch biopsy, bleeding from the biopsy site did not stop; therefore, electrocautery was performed. Although the amount of bleeding decreased, it continued to recur. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography performed on the 30th day after the first visit revealed angiogenesis and vasodilation around the affected area. On the 37th day, the fourth and fifth fingers were amputated to relieve the bleeding. A diagnosis of dermal lymphatic malformation was made based on immunohistochemical examination of the amputated tissue. Histopathological margins were secured, but a gross examination performed 1 month after surgery revealed some small cysts on the skin surface, suggesting that complete resection may not have been achieved. Nevertheless, the bleeding stopped 20 months after the surgery, and the cat had no trouble in returning to daily living activities. We herein discuss the diagnosis and treatment of this rare case of dermal lymphatic malformation in a cat.","PeriodicalId":22603,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Veterinary Dermatology","volume":"78 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87039214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Obstruction of the ear canal was identified because of multiple nodes and swelling of the ear canal. The ear canal nodes were removed by video otoscope and semiconductor laser. The pathological findings were ceruminous gland adenoma and ceruminous gland hyperplasia. After the procedure, the ear canals were washed with neutral electrolyzed water at regular intervals. On the 60th day following the procedure, the ear canal problem had successfully improved.","PeriodicalId":22603,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Veterinary Dermatology","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80357012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bacterial species were identified. The resistance rates of S. pseudintermedius increased approximately five times from 2008 to 2014 but remained around 20% after 2014. The results highlight the importance of continued monitoring and education in the use of CFV to minimize drug resistance.","PeriodicalId":22603,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Veterinary Dermatology","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87639393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nagata","doi":"10.2736/jjvd.27.215","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2736/jjvd.27.215","url":null,"abstract":": We report two dogs with possible cutaneous hyperesthesia. Case 1, a two-year-old, spayed female chihuahua, showed pruritic behavior at the right neck and dorsal base of the pinna on palpation. Case 2, a one-year-old, castrated male American Cocker Spaniel, had pruritic behavior at the left head and disliked being palpated around the left earhole. MRI examination showed no abnormalities of the central nervous system in both cases. The symptoms gradually disappeared with the concurrent usage of drugs that effect the nervous systems, especially peripheral nerve pain killer, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, anticonvulsant, and Janus kinase inhibitor. Based on these findings, peripheral cutaneous hyperesthesia due to peripheral neuropathy was suspected and the therapeutic approach for hyperesthesia is discussed.","PeriodicalId":22603,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Veterinary Dermatology","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87906741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
