Road panoramic images are taken and recorded on a portable VCR, and the painted line on the road shoulder is located. The techniques used are based on edge detection, template correlation and texture analysis. Emphasis is placed on devising fast and robust algorithms to work in non ideal conditions.","PeriodicalId":225826,"journal":{"name":"The 3rd International Conference on Vehicle Navigation and Information Systems,","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130359514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The status of every vehicle in terms of position, speed, acceleration etc. is known at any given moment. This makes it possible to estimate the environmental impacts of each vehicle, performed in separate modules for each effect. The traffic simulation model and all environmental impact and road user models are gathered in a knowledge-based expert system known as ESCORT (Expert System for Estimating Consequences of Road Traffic).","PeriodicalId":225826,"journal":{"name":"The 3rd International Conference on Vehicle Navigation and Information Systems,","volume":"540 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124535793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DYNAGUIDE is a concept developed by Volvo for receiving, selecting andpresenting Traffic Information via RDSITMC. The DYNAGUIDE system is considered as a possible second generarion RDSITMC receiver. It is based on a graphic, color display and uses a simple symbol language for presenting RDSITMC messages to the driver. One hundred receiver units have recently been produced for evaluation of the DYNAGUIDE concept, as well as of RDSITMC-based trafic information in general. The primary test area is in Gothenburg where RDSITMC information is an important part of the Test Site West Sweden program. TMC transmissions according to ALERT-C srarted there in December 1991. Conventional pricing systems charge motorists for the use of the road and this charge is not normally related to the level of congestion at any instant of time. A system using a monitoring meter is perceived to be fairer than conventional road pricing and hence is both politically and socially more acceptable.","PeriodicalId":225826,"journal":{"name":"The 3rd International Conference on Vehicle Navigation and Information Systems,","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123543635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes the development of a read/write type of microwave ID-tag powered by a battery. The main features of this ID-tag as a stand alone tag are high data rate and low power consumption. A gate access control system using this ID-tag has been developed and applied to logistic operations such as traffic conitrol of delivery trucks in automobile plants. A Japanese project to standardize ID-tags for automotive use is referred to at the end of this paper.","PeriodicalId":225826,"journal":{"name":"The 3rd International Conference on Vehicle Navigation and Information Systems,","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130208467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
