The objective of computed radiography (CR), in which stimulable phosphor is used as an X-ray sensor, lies in constructing an excellent X-ray diagnostic system by combining the highly advanced photographic technology with digital computer technology. This technique was first presented at the International Congress of Radiology held in Brussels, Belgium in 1981, and has already found wide clinical use as a digital X-ray imaging modality capable of replacing the established screen/film radiography technique. In addition, there is considerable anticipation that it will serve as an important component in playing a crucial role in the Image Management And Communication (IMAC) system.","PeriodicalId":225763,"journal":{"name":"[1989] Proceedings. Realistic areas of cost reduction are pointed out and the claim that high technology of diagnostic procedures is the major cause of health care cost increases is examined. The basic idea of ISAC system is to save or file both images and characters in a portable recording medium and to transport a huge amount of digital data in an off-line way. Because the compatibility is most important and inevitable for common and wide use, we focus on the standardization of I/O devices.
