The regional distribution of TPHs at the present study showed a highest concentration of TPHs during spring at station 10 (41.86 μg/g dry weigh) while a lowest concentration observed during spring at station 1 (14.82 μg/g dry weigh). The seasonal distribution of TPHs show highest level in all stations during winter (30.350 μg/g) and the lowest levels observed during summer (24.167 μg/g). With respect to spatial variably of studied parameters, the parameters concentrations in studied stations gradually increased from station 1 to station 5, and then significantly decreased at station 6 and finally increased to station 10. The fluctuation in concentrations of concentrations in stations is due to distance from the flame of the flare which near to the stations 8, 9, 10 and far to the stations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, while the seasonal concentration arrange as following: winter >spring >autumn>summer. There were non-significant correlation between the TPH in soil and each of the soil texture compounds (sand, silt and clay), while there is significant correlation between the TPH in soil and TOC%. By comprising the result concentration of this study with literature reviews, the concentration levels lies within it and in other cases exceed it.","PeriodicalId":22529,"journal":{"name":"The international journal of marine science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74967244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The differences in environment may affect the phenotype of the fish species and thus the populations could evolve into distinct stocks unique to the habitats where they persist. The goatfish is now a commercially important fish species in both habitats though no studies have so far compared the morphology between these populations. Fish samples were collected from Hurghada (Egypt) and Latakia (Syria), one each from the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea respectively. We measured 14 morphometric distances from each fish specimen and they were transformed using an allometric approach to remove the effect of size from shape of the individual. The entire multivariate data was then subjected to principal component analysis to determine the shape differences between these populations. Our study showed significant differences in the body shape of the fish, mostly associated to their adaptations to swim and improve visibility at the respective environments. This indicates that the goatfish populations in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea are two unique fish stocks.","PeriodicalId":22529,"journal":{"name":"The international journal of marine science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78586011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its study is important for the overall and sustainable strategy for integrated coastal zone management and forecasting of the future coastal changes. Impacts such as these not only affect the estuarine ecology, they also impact on the stability of the shoreline, water salinity change, social and economic value of estuaries. Spits are very dynamic coastal features steered by complex formation and evolution processes. Rosetta Estuary spit is observed with spatial and temporal changes. Spit situation has been compared with its historical information to check the variation using satellite images and field visit. Mechanical analysis of Rosetta Estuary sediments was executed to confirm that the surface sediments of the last part of Rosetta Estuary were originally from the coastal area. has been carried out. Moreover, salinity has been measured at different location of the study area. Migration of the spit was recognized towards the riverside. The detected migration was 1.5 km during the period from 2007 to 2015 with rate about 187 m/y. The factors that affect the formation of the spit inside Rosetta Estuary were listed and discussed.","PeriodicalId":22529,"journal":{"name":"The international journal of marine science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74162039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So by long term marine data analysis, the hydromorphology properties of Caspian Sea (morphology, fluctuation, temperature, salinity and transparency) have been studied. The main results show that the Caspian Sea as largest inland sea has unique morphologic condition and rapid sea level changing is the one of the most important natural process. The intensity of physical vulnerability and erosion risk in Caspian Sea is related to fluctuation rhythm and the spatial and temporal of marginal beach morphologic changing.","PeriodicalId":22529,"journal":{"name":"The international journal of marine science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85236517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Optimization of the cultivation conditions and identification of its bioactive compounds were also carried out. The antibiotic susceptibility was performed by disk diffusion method. A total of fifteen antibiotic discs were employed. Qualitative screening for extracellular enzyme-producing ability was done using skim milk agar, starch agar, egg yolk agar, gelatin agar and cellulose agar for protease, amylase, lipase, gelatinase and cellulase activities respectively. The optimal conditions for growth of the isolate were assessed by growing on nutrient broth at various pH, temperature and salinity levels. Cell growth was estimated by standard plate count. The probiotic was screened for antimicrobial activity by agar well diffusion assay against the pathogen ( Aeromonas hydrophila ) using cell-free supernatant (crude extract) and methanolic extract. The methanolic extract was analyzed using gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The isolate showed a wide range of environmental tolerance with pH (4-11), temperature (28-40℃) and salinity (0-100 ppt). The optimum conditions for cell growth were pH 6-8, temperature 37℃ and salinity 5-15 ppt. The isolate was susceptible to all tested antibiotics which supported the ideal probiotic characteristic. The isolate was capable of producing extracellular enzymes such as protease, amylase, lipase and gelatinase which could improve feed digestibility and feed utilization. The crude and methanolic extracts were active against the pathogen with inhibition zones of 13.0 ± 0.02 mm and 18.0 ± 0.03 mm respectively. Two bioactive compounds (Tromethamine and Pyrrolo [1, 2-a] pyrazine-1, 4-dione, hexahydro-) were identified. These results suggest that the Shewanella algae could probably be used as a potential probiotic in aquafeed formulation and a good source of novel drug development.","PeriodicalId":22529,"journal":{"name":"The international journal of marine science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80221530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
