The study involves computerized monitoring of Transmitted and Received signal levels of (TRSL) of six Microwave links operating at Ku (14GHz) and Ka (21GHz) bands as well as an automatic weather station. This paper presents a description of the experiment and reports preliminary results of measuring dust storms as they affect the radio wave propagation at Ku and Ka bands. The effect of dust storms on propagation is studied by measuring the storm parameters; visibility and induced attenuation due to these storms. The preliminary result shows that the higher frequency is more affected by dust storms than the lower. In addition, the attenuation increases with lengths of the link.","PeriodicalId":225244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125535293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, LTE packet scheduling and distributing resources among users is still the main challenge due to unfairness and low performance which occur when allocating resources to users. In this paper, the above mentioned challenges are studied and analysed, focusing on three schedulers; they are Proportional Fair (PF), Maximum Throughput (MT) and Blind equal throughput (BET). These methods do not provide QoS to users that use different types of traffic flows. The proposed algorithm in this paper is to modify the PF scheduler in order to fulfil the QoS criteria maximizing throughput and minimizing the delay for real time service. VoIP and video have been selected as real time traffic and best effort as non-real time. LTE-Sim simulator is used to compare between the mentioned schedulers in terms of throughput, delay, packet loss ratio and spectrum efficiency.","PeriodicalId":225244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125661490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensing capabilities combined with relatively small processing power and wireless communication makes it one of the main technologies to be exploited in the future. Despite its attractive features, WSN is vulnerable to various security attacks. The constraints of WSN such as limited energy and memory make the security problem even more critical. One of the security issues of WSN is it is susceptible to sybil attack. In this attack, the adversary forges multiple entities to disrupt the entire network. This paper addresses the problem by developing a lightweight trust system using energy as a metric parameter for a hierarchical WSN. The performance evaluation of this system shows efficiency and scalability for detecting sybil attacks in terms of true and false positive detection in a heterogeneous WSN. Furthermore, this system reduces the communication overhead in the network by cancelling feedback and recommendations among sensor nodes (SNs).","PeriodicalId":225244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132755890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These new forms have both computational and analytical utilities, and are very attractive for computing the statistical expectations of all three functions of the form Q<sub>M</sub>(a√γ, b√γ) and Q<sub>M</sub>(a√γ, b) with respect to the probablility density function of γ random variable. This feature is not possible with the existing trigonometric integral representations for Q<sub>M</sub>(α, β) due to the presence of cross-product terms. We also show that all known exponential-type integral representations for Q<sub>M</sub>(α, β) discovered by Helstom [2], Simon [15], Tellambura et. al. [9] and Annamalai et. al. [10] can be obtained from our contour integral via appropriate variable substutions. Several applications of our novel integral representations of Q<sub>M</sub>(α, β) are also provided such as the evaluation of the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) and the partial area under the ROC curves of diversity-enabled energy detectors, and unified error probability analyses of coherent, differentially coherent and noncoherent binary and quaternary digital modulations in a myriad of fading environments.","PeriodicalId":225244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC)","volume":"590 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132827630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is achieved by consistently sensing the spectrum, and detecting the under-utilized frequency bands without causing undue interference to the primary user (PU). However, the presence of malicious users/attackers degrades the system performance. So, we propose an improved soft decision fusion (SDF) based cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) scheme in which the hybrid invasive weed optimization and particle swarm optimization (hybrid IWOPSO) algorithm is used as global optimization method to optimize the weight coefficients to maximize the detection probability in the presence of primary user emulation attack (PUEA). However, the limited coverage range of mm-wave (100m-200m) necessitate the presence of suitable techniques to reduce the outage probability due to propagation impairments. In this paper a dynamic multi state ultra-wideband millimeter wave frequency selection (DMSUWMF-S) is presented based on maximum SINR value at the user equipment (UE's). Two mmWave cellular cell deployment scenarios have been implemented with 2.2km × 2.2km and 3km × 3km based on cell range (150m and 200m) respectively. Three classes of millimeter wave base station according to the three frequencies 73, 38 and 28GHz have been simulated. The UE's have been uniformly generated throughout the simulation area. Based on the evaluation of our proposed scheme, the results have shown an enhancement of overall system performance with an increase in system capacity and reduced outage probability.","PeriodicalId":225244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115930694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Without harming the performance of the primary user (PU), secondary user (SU) makes use of a relay (R) for transmission as a supportive system besides the direct link transmission between secondary source (S) and secondary destination (D). Outage probability is used to represent the performance parameter for two different cases. In the first case, relay is able to forward the information from source to destination. In the second case, it is assumed the relay suffers an outage and could not decode the information from the source. We consider total probability law in two cases. The outage probability of SU is analyzed in term of different distance between the secondary nodes and model with relay and without relay. The analysis performances are verified by the simulation results.","PeriodicalId":225244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121487248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Real time video exchange in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) can help in reducing the on road accidents and provide better road security by means of video surveillance. To execute this concept in VANET, the integrated model of VANET - Cloud Computing is the most efficient and viable solution. In this paper we propose VWS: Video Surveillance on Wheels Using Cloud in VANETs. In the proposed system, all the vehicles moving on the road serve as witnesses for various events with the help of camera equipped on board units. All the data (videos and images) of distinguished events are shared among the vehicles in a network termed as the vehicular cloud. All the data exchange that takes place in the vehicular cloud is saved in the central cloud server with the help of the roadside clouds for further surveillance and monitoring. The proposed work is supported with simulations in NS-2 and SUMO software. The most compatible and interoperable handover management solutions are designed based on IP mobility protocols. Current IP mobility management protocols, including Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), rely on centralized and static mobility anchor, which intrinsically pose enormous burdens on the central anchors in terms of user mobility management and connectivity needs. Recently, network-based Distributed Mobility Management (DMM) based on PMIPv6 has been proposed to overcome the aforementioned issues. In this paper, we study the worth of adopting network-based in vehicular networks. We analyze and compare the handover performance of network-based DMM with PMIPv6. For handover analysis, the effect of system parameters, such as vehicle velocity, radius of cells, and network scale are investigated with respect to handover latency and packet loss metrics. Existing literature shows that the foliage attenuation is a function of a multitude of parameters, including frequency, foliage depth, tree types, foliage thickness, leaf density, leaf size, branches, trunks, humidity, wind speed, height of the tree relative to the antenna heights, path length through foliage, etc. This paper surveys the current development in the foliage attenuation study in millimeter wave bands and reviews the established propagation models. Numerical simulations are presented to assess and compare the existing empirical models. The results show that the Weissberger model provides the most optimistic estimate (the lowest attenuation) while the FITU-R model delivers the most pessimistic estimate (the highest attenuation). The results also reveal that the ITU-R model has the highest rate of increase in foliage attenuation as a function of foliage depth.","PeriodicalId":225244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128647891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
