The first objective is to minimize the morphology design while the second objective is to maximize the performance of the SAWR in performing the climbing motion. Results show that the proposed MOEA is capable to produce a set of Pareto optimal solutions from the smallest SAWR with poor performance to the largest SAWR with robust performance. The Pareto set of optimal solutions provide users a choice of solutions for trade-off between the two objectives.","PeriodicalId":225159,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence with Applications in Engineering and Technology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114709326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Complex traffic structure, imbalanced traffic flow, and uncertain event like road accident are among of the identified factors that may cause traffic congestion. Traffic congestion problem causes delay in travelling, increase in travelling cost and accident rate and may affect air pollution. Numerous approaches have been developed and proposed in solving these problems. Among them are traffic signal controls, congestion pricing, turning restrictions and traffic routing. Various methods have been employed include mathematical model, heuristic and meta-heuristics. This paper presents a review on recent approaches that have been proposed for traffic congestion problem and methods used for implementation. This review provides a bigger picture on recent approaches; provide a comparison and suggestion for future research in traffic congestion relief.","PeriodicalId":225159,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence with Applications in Engineering and Technology","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121621638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, while such applications supports the posting of completed exercise session on social network, the veracity of the post is entirely determined by the user of the application. In this paper, we present the building blocks for a weight lifting application. It recognizes and counts the number of repetitions of a weight lifting exercise, and subsequently posts it on the user's behalf, thus ensuring the veracity of the post. Our empirical results demonstrate the potential of such an application.","PeriodicalId":225159,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence with Applications in Engineering and Technology","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133414692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A hybridized Genetic Programming and self-adaptive Differential Evolution algorithm is implemented to co-evolving both the morphology and controller of the robot throughout the artificial evolutionary process. Two different artificial evolutionary experiments have been conducted in this paper by using the classic DE mutation technique (DE/rand/1/bin) and a customized DE mutation technique with different mutation differential operation. It was found out that the customized DE mutation approach is more effective in co-evolving both the morphology and controller for the snake-like modular robot to acquire forward moving behaviour. Moreover, from the analysis conducted on the results obtained throughout the evolutionary process, interesting findings were discovered on the evolved morphology and moving behaviour of the snake-like modular robot. In conclusion, promising results were shown in this work which suggests that the co-evolving evolutionary algorithm presented in this work is an alternative method and feasible to be implemented to automatically design and optimize the modular robot for the moving behaviour by co-evolving both the morphology and controller of the modular robot.","PeriodicalId":225159,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence with Applications in Engineering and Technology","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131412832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For a given bandwidth allocation, spectral efficiency can be increased by increasing data rate using higher order modulation or larger MIMO techniques. However, this can increase the probability of error in noisy channel. Therefore, this paper proposed an integrated adaptive modulation, coding and precoding for 4 X 4 broadband wireless MIMO-OFDM system. The receiver provides continuing channel state information feedback to the transmitter. The proposed system employs channelaware scheduling techniques that can dynamically change system parameters based on channel conditions and achieve high spectral efficiencies without increasing bit error rate in noisy channels.","PeriodicalId":225159,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence with Applications in Engineering and Technology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130796834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such coexistence between the different technologies can introduce many operational coordination and management problems. Long Term Evolution (LTE) advanced and otherwise has been deployed in the same cell site as of Universal mobile Telecommunication (UMTS) cells. LTE and UMTS networks have different Radio Resources Management (RRM) functionality and network architecture. Therefore; most operators have considered common radio resources management functionality in more than one way in order to use radio resources efficiently. Such deployment has to be concerned with many technical issues; among others, the internet traffic and load balancing among multi RAT. After all; the network will be connected to the World Wide Web in one form or another. In this contribution, we are devising a new algorithm that considers cell selection based on internet traffic modeling approaches. Indeed, graphs are used as models for practical problems. Graph theory, therefore, has potentiality for being useful tools in actual world. In this paper, a computational problem in graph theory, called Eulerian recurrent length, is introduced. The problem asks, for an Eulerian graph and a positive integer, whether there exists an Eulerian circuit of the Eulerian graph such that the length of a shortest subcycle in the Eulerian circuit is greater than or equal to the positive integer. The maximum length of shortest subcycles in Eulerian circuits of an Eulerian graph is referred to as the Eulerian recurrent length of the Eulerian graph by the author. The NP-completeness of the Eulerian recurrent length problem is proved even if each instance is restricted to a pair of a 4-regular graph and any constant greater than 330.","PeriodicalId":225159,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence with Applications in Engineering and Technology","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116639440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The processed expressions were the six most pertinent facial expressions and the neutral one. This operation was implemented in three steps. First, a neural network, trained using Zernike moments, was applied to the set of the well known Yale and JAFFE database images to perform face detection. In the second step, detected faces are processed to perform the characterization phase through computed vectors of Zernike moments. At last step, a back propagation neural network was trained to distinguish between the seven emotion's states of a presented face. Finally, method performances were evaluated on the well known JAFEE and YALE database.","PeriodicalId":225159,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence with Applications in Engineering and Technology","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123746827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
