It has found that regional rural banks, private sector banks, and public sector banks are playing vital role in credit distribution in Jammu and Kashmir. Private sector banks are in leading position of branches and touching points. Nearly 50% districts have credit-to-deposit ratio lower than the standard level 70%. There are mixed success in achieving credit targets in banks. Canara Bank is the largest beneficiary under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. There is huge gap of beneficiaries of Atal Pension Scheme, and Prime Minister's Self-Employment Scheme. Banks are not achieving credit and beneficiaries target in priority sector. They achieved target of credit allocation in personal loans and housing sectors in non-priority sector. J&K Grameen Bank, and State Bank of India, has more linked with self-help groups. Total non-performing assets in Jammu and Kashmir under Kisan Credit Card is 270.26 crores which is 5% of credits. J&K SFC has the highest gross NPA percentage (56.85), followed by Cooperative Banks (33.80), and Regional Rural Banks (6.30). Public Sector Banks has the least gross NPA percentage (2.35), preceded by Private Sector Banks (4.02). Private Sector Banks has the highest gross NPA volume. MSME sector has the highest volume of non-performing assets, followed by Agricultural sector and MUDRA. PMEGP scheme has the highest volume of non-performing assets, followed by NULM, and NRLM. Therefore, government will implement policies for minimizing the non-performing assets in banking sector.","PeriodicalId":224637,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management, Public Policy and Research","volume":"4 3","pages":"147-160"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147905880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Historically, Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) have posed significant challenges for banks, but reducing NPAs has now become a top priority. The strength of a nation's economy relies heavily on the health of its cooperative banking sector. This study analyzes the non-performing assets (NPAs) of The Pragati Co-operative Bank Ltd. over a six-year period from 2017-18 to 2022-23. The research examines various aspects related to NPAs, including gross NPAs, net NPAs, provisions made towards NPAs, loans and advances, deposits, and relevant ratios such as net NPA ratio, provision coverage ratio, and credit-to-deposit ratio. The data analysis reveals that the bank maintained a zero net NPA throughout the period, indicating effective provisioning strategies. While gross NPAs fluctuated, the provision coverage ratio remained strong, suggesting the bank's ability to withstand asset quality pressures. The study also investigates the relationship between gross NPAs and net profits using correlation and regression analysis, finding a positive correlation but minimal significant impact of gross NPAs on profitability. Overall, the research highlights The Pragati Co-operative Bank Ltd.'s proactive approach to NPA management, financial stability, and adaptability to changing market conditions.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":224637,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management, Public Policy and Research","volume":"35 25","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141117493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even the market moves based on the expected PE ratio and adjusts itself from time to time accordingly. This study aims at critical evaluation by comparing a stock purchase at a historic date at a higher PE multiple with a current date and calculating returns on both stock price levels as well as dividend yield level over the entire period in absolute terms. It wants to highlight that a purchase at higher PE falls out of the definition of investing and should be categorized and treated as speculative for very clear reasons that are critically evaluated in this study. It is noticed that unless the company grows top line and bottom-line exponentially, a stock purchase at higher PE delivers very dismal dividend yield if any and mostly negative return on account of stock price depreciation rather than appreciation. Hence, such purchase can be said to be speculative as it relies solely on momentum stock price rise for gains.","PeriodicalId":224637,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management, Public Policy and Research","volume":"6 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138586506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
