The material was based on a wood flour/ polypropylene (PP) master batch, and prepared to be 30wt% and 50wt% wood flour contents by the addition of PP pellets. First, kneading temperature and screw speed of a uni-axial extruder were changed in some conditions, and 190°C and 20rpm were decided from tensile test of the injection-molded WPC specimens as the optimum manufacturing conditions. Next, tensile and fatigue tests were carried out for WPC specimens with 30wt% and 50wt% wood flour contents. The resultant tensile strength and fatigue life were largely improved as compared to neat PP specimens. When a lump of the master batch remained in the WPC specimen, the strength and life were reduced. It should be noted that, while fatigue life of the neat PP specimens was only 10 to 10 cycles to failure range at 30MPa maximum cyclic stress, those of WPC specimens with 30wt% and 50wt% contents were drastically extended to 10 to 10, and 10 to 10 cycles to failure, respectively. It was estimated that the major cause of fatigue damage in WPC specimens was craze occurring in the matrix, which initiated near the specimen surface, extended into the inner, and finally led to the unstable fracture. {"title":"Cellulose Nanofiber-Based Composite Materials with Polymer Brush Components","authors":"Keita Sakakibara","doi":"10.2115/fiber.70.p-276","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2115/fiber.70.p-276","url":null,"abstract":"表面・界面に片末端が固定されたポリマー鎖の集合体は ポリマーブラシと呼ばれ、材料の高性能化・高機能化に重 要な役割を担う。最近では、リビングラジカル重合による 合成技術が進展してシェル層(ポリマーブラシ層)の精密設 計が可能となり、コア(ナノ粒子・ナノファイバー等)とマ トリクス(溶媒や樹脂等)の組み合わせから新規機能材料が 見出されている。 さて、セルロースナノファイバーに関する研究開発が世 界中で活発化している。本誌では東京大学の磯貝明先生や 京都大学の矢野浩之先生による解説記事を参照されたい1)。 セルロースナノファイバー(CNF)は植物細胞壁や酢酸菌 の細胞外分泌物、ホヤの被嚢などにミクロフィブリル(束) として存在し、機械的処理(高圧ホモジナイザー、グライ ンダーなど)や化学的処理(TEMPO酸化、carboxymethyl 化など)により解繊された直径数~数 10nmのナノ繊維で ある。とりわけ、木質バイオマスから得られるCNF2)は豊 富な資源量(セルロース現存量は約 8兆 t)と優れた力学特 性(結晶弾性率:138GPa3)、強度:2-3GPa4))、寸法安定性 (線熱膨張係数:10-7/K5))、高比表面積、透明性、生分解 性、生体適合性などの魅力的な特性を有する。 筆者がCNFに関する研究を開始したのは 2011 年のこ とである。当時、出身研究室(京大院農・中坪文明先生の 研究室)と留学先(オーストリアBOKU大学・Thomas Rosenau 先生の研究室)での機能性セルロース誘導体に関 する研究を経て、物質材料研究機構・有賀克彦先生の下で 博士研究員として動的界面を利用した超分子体に関する研 究に従事していたが、幸運なことに辻井敬亘先生の下で研 究する機会を得た。この赴任をきっかけに、ポリマーブラ シの特性を活かしたCNFの材料開発に取り組むことと なった。本稿ではその最近の研究成果について紹介したい。","PeriodicalId":224481,"journal":{"name":"Sen-ito Kogyo","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114699597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
