This study aims to describe the activities of daily living performance among CKD patients with HD. Methods: Subjects were 42 CKD outpatients (27 men, 15 women; mean age 50 ± SD=9,49) undergoing maintenance HD one to two times a week. This study employed a cross-sectional descriptive study design. Data were collected from September to October 2020 in Setia Mitra Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia. Assessment of Activity Daily Living (ADL) was administered using the Katz Index.Result: In this study, we assessed six items of patient’s functional status including bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, continence, and feeding. The majority of participants (33 people, 79%) had complete independence in performing activities of daily living. However, there were 9 participants (21%) who still need assistance in performing activities of daily living. Conclusion: Although this study found that most participants did not have difficulty in ADL, some participants reported that they needed assistance while performing ADL. Physiotherapy is an important element in the management of CKD patients with HD. The physiotherapy program can help to improve patient’s health, independence in carrying out activities of daily living, reduce stress and depression, improve self-esteem as well as quality of life.","PeriodicalId":224385,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Epidemiologi Kesehatan Komunitas","volume":"173 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122349483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Resistance of C. albicans against antifungals is an emerging issue. This study was aimed to determine the selected quantitative phytocomponent profile and evaluate the effectiveness of intaran (Azadiractha indica A. Juss) leaf extract from Bali in inhibiting the growth of C. albicans .Methods: This experimental research was conducted at the Center for Marine Aquaculture Research and Development (Buleleng, Bali), Laboratory Service Unit, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University, and Microbiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University, Denpasar, Bali. Our study included the preparation of the methanol extract of intaran leaves using maceration method, phytochemical analysis, and testing the antifungal activity of the extract using the diffusion disk assay against C. albicans ATCC-10231.Results: Phytochemical components in the methanol extract of intaran Bali leaves were chlorophyll (18434.47 mg/L), total antioxidants (4818.07 mg/L GAEAC), phenol (4391.16 mg/100gr GAE) and flavonoids (785.32 mg/100gr QE). The extract exhibited dose-dependent effect, with greatest inhibition against C. albicans ATCC-10231 growth was obtained at the concentration of 50%.Conclusion: Methanol extract of Balinese intaran leaves contained significant amount of chlorophyll, total antioxidants, phenol, and flavonoids. The extract showed antifungal activity against C. albicans ATCC-10231. This anticandidal effect is assumed to be related to the phytocomponents of the extract.","PeriodicalId":224385,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Epidemiologi Kesehatan Komunitas","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128589436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various studies have been conducted for resistant cases, especially herbs which have antibacterial activity. Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) is an example of herb which has antibacterial activity due to the presence of andrographolide. Andrographolide soluble in ethanol and poorly in water, while extraction with alcohol causes andrographolide’s degradation. This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial activity of ethanol and water stem extract and compare them against MRSA ATCC 3351 in vitro.Methods: This is an experimental study with a post-test only control group design and conducted by disc diffusion technique to obtain an inhibition zone against MRSA.Result: The result of this study showed the mean inhibitory zone of ethanol stem extract was 5,87mm, 6,77mm, 7,87mm respectively for 25%, 50%, and 100% concentrations, while 1% concentration did not show antibacterial activity. Water stem extract at 1%, 25%, 50%, and 100% concentrations showed mean inhibitory zone was at 4,57mm, 7,17mm, 8,67mm, and 9,67mm respectively.Conclusion: Ethanol and water stem extract showed antibacterial activity against MRSA.
