The model is based on the published descriptions of Health Insurance Products and exploits properties of the compositional Protocol Modelling technique. We analyze the changes of Health Insurance Products made in the last six years. All changes found in official sources are classified on the basis of their impact on model modification. The results of analysis show that each class of changes can be presented locally as an event or an attribute of an existing Protocol Machine or as a new Protocol Machine. New Protocol Machines are added to the model and composed with it so that the order of events in behaviour sequences defined by the old protocol machines is not changed.","PeriodicalId":223556,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Behaviour Modelling - Foundations and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130478549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper takes such a challenge seriously by lifting typical behaviour modelling techniques to the specification of both types and instances of architectural patterns in which the later ones are connected by ports that behave according to a water flow metaphor. A specific language is introduced for this purpose as well as a translator to mCRL2 so that the simulation and analysis techniques available in the corresponding toolset can be used to reason about (the behavioural layer of) software architectures. The approach is illustrated in a few examples.","PeriodicalId":223556,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Behaviour Modelling - Foundations and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129634338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Part of that idea works already today. But, there are still difficulties when it comes to behaviour. Actually, there is no lack in models for behaviour, but a lack of concepts for integrating them with the other models and with existing code. In this paper, we discuss some of the main challenges in behaviour modelling and integration and present some ideas on how to overcome them - and, still, many open issues.","PeriodicalId":223556,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Behaviour Modelling - Foundations and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129806366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A common approach to circumvent the problem is to map these models to more formal representations. In this context, many works propose a rule-based approach to automatically translate behavioral models like SD into colored Petri nets (CPN). However, finding the rules for such SD-to-CPN transformations manually may be difficult, as the transformation rules are usually not obviously defined. We propose a solution that starts from the hypothesis that examples of good transformation of SD-to-CPN can be useful to automatically generate transformation rules. To this end, we describe an automated approach to find the rules that best match the meta-model elements of SD to corresponding elements in the CPN meta-model. Thus, our approach starts by randomly generating a set of rules, executing them to generate some target models. Then, it evaluates the quality of the proposed solution (rules) by comparing the generated target models to the expected ones in the base of examples. In this case, the search space is large and heuristic-search is needed. To achieve our goal, we combine two algorithms for global and local search, namely Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Simulated Annealing (SA). Our empirical results show that the generated rules derive CPNs similar to the expected ones.","PeriodicalId":223556,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Behaviour Modelling - Foundations and Applications","volume":"143 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132110017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is not clear that there is a uniform concept of contract that can be applied to both algorithmic and interactive software. We propose a framework for thinking about software contracts based on the idea that a contract aims to preserve a formal proposition about the software system being built, and the form of the contract must reflect both the proposition whose truth is to be preserved and the formal reasoning system used for verification. In particular, we believe that very different forms of contract are needed for algorithmic and interactive software and illustrate this with examples.","PeriodicalId":223556,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Behaviour Modelling - Foundations and Applications","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122073175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a formal and executable semantic framework for UML4SOA models of service-oriented systems. The UML4SOA language is a UML profile developed in the EU SENSORIA project for modeling services behavior focusing on service orchestration aspects. We complement the graphical model of a service orchestration scenario with a formal description that is suitable for rigorous execution-platform-independent analysis. We map the behavioral primitives of UML4SOA activity diagrams into a particular class of Abstract State Machines (ASMs) able to model notions of service interactions and orchestrations.","PeriodicalId":223556,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Behaviour Modelling - Foundations and Applications","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126239364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper advocates the use of kiltera as an executable, yet formal, specification language for the high-level description and analysis of complex software systems. kiltera is based on a novel process algebra that extends the π-calculus with time, distribution and execution via an interpreter based on event simulation. We present a textual abstract syntax for a subset of UML-RT and formally define a semantic mapping that explains UML-RT in terms of kiltera. An initial implementation of the semantic mapping is described.
