Often the victims of curable medical conditions are the elderly who happen to be out and about without anybody to help. To tackle this we propose Neighbor Assisted Medical Emergency System (NAMES), which through the use of Arduino and Internet of Things (IoT), initiates a cost effective emergency response. NAMES is based around having registered volunteers who provide immediate medical care to those in need on the spot or take the responsibility to escalate the situation towards a hospital or a registered pharmacy for equipment when necessary. Furthermore we introduce a simulation model of NAMES in MATLAB based on experiment results to analyze the system performance using the theory of stochastic geometry. Performance evaluation in terms of outage probability reveals the effects of NAMES system on propagation environment. Our proposed system will incorporate loT, mobile network, database etc to form a response system in case of emergency medical situation in Bangladesh.","PeriodicalId":222751,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 5th International Conference on Smart Instrumentation, Measurement and Application (ICSIMA)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114763750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research focuses on the design and development of an appropriate set of behaviour control strategies for robot-to-human object handover by first understanding how an equivalent human-human object handover can be used to establish a framework for a robotic behaviour-based approach. To achieve this goal, a real-world human-to-human object transferring task has been carried out in order to understand the dynamic and kinematic behavioural characteristics of the haptic interaction between two human participants. The profiles of interactive forces between the giver and receiver were measured as a function of time, and how they are modulated while performing the cooperative tasks, was evaluated. Based on key features as proposed, these can be subsequently used to design and develop the conceptual guideline for a human-like behaviour-based service robot. Position-based force control using proportional plus integral (PI) and fuzzy logic control (FLC) algorithms were adopted to control the robot end effector position and interactive force in real-time. The results allowed a comparison of the PI and FLC control strategies. It can be concluded that the quantitative measurement of the controlled robot performance is close to that of the human and can be considered acceptable for human-robot interaction. The effective object transferring tasks provide robot to be able to successfully pass the object to the human in a safe, reliable and timely manner. However, after careful analysis with regard the test results, the control based FLC scheme was shown to be slightly superior to PI control by actively compensating for the dynamics in the non-linear system and demonstrated better overall performance and stability.","PeriodicalId":222751,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 5th International Conference on Smart Instrumentation, Measurement and Application (ICSIMA)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114067591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Possible extension of the layer of microchannels into a stacked system, by developing a multi-layer channel system, is investigated. The objectives of this study are to develop modified mathematical models for stacked (multi-layer) MCHS, using water and nanofluid of alumina-water based (Al2O3-H2O), at volumetric fraction (ϕ) of 1%, 2.5%, and 5 %, for channel height of 287 µm, finally, to optimize the thermal and hydrodynamic performance of the proposed model. The results of the optimization were carried out by multiobjective genetic algorithm, MOGA. The optimized thermal resistant and corresponding pressure drop, showed that at a channel height of 287 µm and at volume fraction ϕ =5% water based alumina nanofluid provided the lowest value of the thermal resistance of 0.0282 “L/W for a multi-stacked (five layers) MCHS with pressure drop of 58.9 kPa as compared to 0.0867 C/W and 261.8 kPa for a single-layer MCHS at an optimum value for $a (channel height to channel width) and β (wall width to channel width) of 6.5 and 0.99 respectively.","PeriodicalId":222751,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 5th International Conference on Smart Instrumentation, Measurement and Application (ICSIMA)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121062729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are different types of signal generator available in the market such as function generator, arbitrary waveform generator, RF signal generator, vector signal generator and audio signal generator and pulse generator. Although all signal generators can generate electronic signals and waveforms, different types of signal generator are used for different applications and to develop different types of electronic signal. In this work, signal generator is designed and developed to be used in a new advance technology such as Lab- on-a-Chip (LoC) or any instrument system. It is designed by using AD9850 Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) chip module that is able to generate sine waveform with frequency up to 30 MHz. This signal generator can accurately generate and control the waveform of various frequencies. There is limitations to the signal generator with the power supply is fixed to 5V. This is due to the limitation with ARDUINO UNO which is used to develop signal generator. The controlling and monitoring process on LoC always require precise control in the frequency generated in order to obtained accurate results. The ability of DDS is important to accurately control and generate waveform for various frequencies, with reliability and low cost as the main feature.","PeriodicalId":222751,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 5th International Conference on Smart Instrumentation, Measurement and Application (ICSIMA)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134456537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
