From various potential job and training performance predictors seven psychological attributes (personality, vocational interests, grit, growth mindset, self-efficacy, goal orientation and resistance to change) were chosen and tested as predictors of job performance ratings, as provided by either the supervisor or the study participant. The results indicate that grit, vocational interests, and resistance to change predict job performance in this group of ICT specialists. This study adds to the scientific literature of grit and vocational interests as non-cognitive predictors of job performance. Implications for practice include the recommendation of using grit and vocational interests in personnel management processes such as personnel selection or placement.","PeriodicalId":222068,"journal":{"name":"Baltic Journal of Psychology","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114564828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim was also to examine if there are changes in the parents’ parenting behaviour, and if there are differences in the degree of behavioural change ratings between the original and modified “STOP 4–7” groups. For purposes of this study 31 children participated in the first group and 48 children in the second group, as well as at least one of the child’s parents and their teacher. Before and after participation in the program, one of the child’s parents and their teacher completed questionnaires about the child’s behaviour. Parents also completed the Ghent Parental Behaviour Scale. Results show that after participation in the program, in both groups there was a decrease in the child’s externalizing behaviour problems, according to both the parents’ and teachers’ report. After participation in the modified program there was an increase in the parents’ report of discipline strategies and material reward ratings.","PeriodicalId":222068,"journal":{"name":"Baltic Journal of Psychology","volume":"254 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116375060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, to explore to what extent forgiveness and bereavement aspects predict grief symptoms. Participating in the study were 440 women, aged between 20 to 45 years, (M = 33,2). They completed the Heartland Forgiveness scale (Thompson & Snyder, 2003), adapted by Vendija Balode (Balode, 2017) and the Traumatic Grief Inventory (Self-Report Version, Boelen, & Smid, 2017), which was adapted as a part of this study. The results of research showed that there were negative relationships between forgiveness and grief symptoms. Bereavement aspects, such as the severity of the perceived bereavement, experienced bonding with the lost baby, and the time since the loss were positive predictors of grief symptom, whereas forgiveness in general, having received psychological assistance and overcoming the perceived loss, were negative predictors of the symptoms of grief.","PeriodicalId":222068,"journal":{"name":"Baltic Journal of Psychology","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115432265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participating in the study were 110 adolescents (75% female, 25% male), ages 16–19 year (M = 17,62; SD = 1,23). They completed the Do You Know scale (Duke, Lazarus & Fivush, 2008), the Identity Style Inventory (Berzonsky, 1992) and the Resilience Scale for Adults (Friborg et al., 2005). The results showed positive associations between knowledge of family history and informational, normative identity style and resilience; and negative association with diffuse identyty style. Knowledge of family history predicted identity style and resilience, with the exception of the social resource factor ratings. Relationships with mother predicted the resilience factors of self-perception, family cohesion and social resources. The internal resource factor of resilience provided partial mediation between knowledge of family history and informative identity style.","PeriodicalId":222068,"journal":{"name":"Baltic Journal of Psychology","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122007657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the study examined gender differences. Participating in the study were 726 adolescents (369 – girls, 344 – boys, 13 – no specific gender) aged 11 to 16. They completed the following questionnaires: Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (Fink et al., 1995); Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children (Briere, 1995); Eating Attitudes Test (Garner et al., 1982); Family Fat Talk Questionnaire (Macdonald et al., 2015). The results showed positive associations between perceived altered eating behaviors and emotional and sexual abuse, depressive and dissociative symptoms, personal and family talk about obesity. Personal conversations about obesity predicted 21% of the variation of the adolescent’s perception of altered eating behavior. The addition of emotional abuse and dissociative symptoms in the regression model increased the explained variance to 25%. Girls reported significantly higher ratings on the study variables.","PeriodicalId":222068,"journal":{"name":"Baltic Journal of Psychology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123225822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Škara, Edmunds Vanags","doi":"10.22364/bjp.23.07","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22364/bjp.23.07","url":null,"abstract":"Studies to date have most often compared the mean scores of an ADHD and control group to see if there are differences between them. Various cluster or linear data processing methods have also been used in studies to group children into certain subgroups according to various characteristics, but so far we have not found any study that has succeeded in dividing both ADHD and control group children into such subgroups. Results vary from study to study. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate and compare the heterogeneity of different cognitive ability domains in children with and without ADHD symptoms with qualitative data analysis methods - creating unique profiles of cognitive ability domains for each child. In this study participated 76 children aged 8–13 and were divided into two groups: ADHD group – 46 children (M = 10.08; SD = 1.67), control group – 30 children (M = 9.41; SD = 1.60). Four methods were used to calculate cognitive ability domain scores: Stroop’s Word and Color Test, Symbol Digit Modalities Test, Digit Span Test, and Continuous Performance Test. The analysis of the profiles revealed a wide heterogeneity in both groups. Also, it was observed in these profiles that children with ADHD experience had more pronounced difficulties in cognitive ability domains compared to the control group. At the same time, it can be concluded that not all children with ADHD experience them. Comparing profiles of children from either of these two groups it can be concluded that some of the children with ADHD symptoms have profiles similar to typically developing children.","PeriodicalId":222068,"journal":{"name":"Baltic Journal of Psychology","volume":"1159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132048263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The association between PA and important organizational variables as employees’ psychological detachment from work during leisure time, next day’s work engagement, productivity, and cognitive ability, however, has not been sufficiently examined in the context of organizations. The aim of this study was to compare adult groups that engaged in PA after work to those who did not in order to study daily dynamics of these variables. In this study, 42 participants, aged 21 to 52, 33 women and nine men - took part over the duration of 5 days. Between groups, there were no significant differences found in any of the organizational variables, however, a significant day effect of the measurement was observed in daily (state) work engagement (SWE) and its subscale vigor, as well as in productivity and cognitive ability. The effect of the interaction between the measurement day and the group was significant for psychological detachment measure.","PeriodicalId":222068,"journal":{"name":"Baltic Journal of Psychology","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125718390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
