In this paper, we present a highly resilient swarm system framework to support Resilient Operational Basis for Ultrahigh Survivable and Trustworthy (ROBUST) robotic swarm systems operating in unknown environments. The framework consists of important characteristics that are necessary for achieving ROBUST swarm systems operating in unknown, hostile environments in order to be able to dependably accomplish their specified missions.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134516582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, to achieve high assure, autonomous community coordination technology is proposed. Each community selects appropriate main route to avoid conflict with other communities. In this survey, we introduce the fundamentals of self-stabilizing algorithm development in a highly dynamic environment. Roughly speaking, a self-stabilizing system recovers from recurrent transient faults that disturb its behavior after a finite convergence period. We put emphasis on the aspects that associate probability with self-stabilization. The introduced concepts and techniques might provide practical implications for designers of self-stabilizing systems.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133337358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to detect unidirectional links, some mechanisms such as blacklist are introduced into the protocol. We call such a protocol unsymmetric. By node mobility over time, a unidirectional link can be changed to the bi-directional link and vice versa. Therefore, whenever directionality of any link changes, the protocol has to correctly detect whether the link is unidirect or bidirect. Even if a node receives the same kind of packet from its neighbor node, behavior of the node is different by the unidirectional or bi-directional link through which the node receives a packet. When testers perform conformance testing for these protocols, testers have to use FSM representing different behaviors of a node depending on directionality of the links. In general, the size of FSM grows exponentially along with increase of neighbors of a node. FSM for unsymmetric protocols is more complicated than that for symmetric protocols. Hence, the number of states and the number of transitions in FSM further increase for unsymmetric protocols. In this paper, we propose a new efficient method to solve this problem by treating both input and output as sets. The proposed method redefines a given FSM to an FSM in which the number of states and the number transitions are drastically reduced.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127831913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paradigm, computing resources can be accessed like other utility services available in today's society. In the meantime, robotics applications are joining the trend. More and more robot applications are shifting from manufacture to non-manufacture and service industries. However, for the on-demand supply of the large-scale heterogeneous robots, It is still a problem have not yet been studied, including the fundamental management and efficiency issues in using of these resources. In this paper, we design a framework of \"Robot Cloud Center\" (RCC) following the general cloud computing paradigm to address the current limitations in capacity and versatility of robotic applications. In this framework, a robot can be provided as a service just like a public utility service so that everyone can access the powerful robotic services easily, efficiently, and cheaply. Based on a given scenario, a robot scheduling algorithm in RCC is proposed to take advantage of the heterogeneous robot resources to meet the end user's requirement with the minimum cost.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114929146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wireless ad hoc network is expected to be a means of communication in such cases because it can be configured without network infrastructure. One of the most important problems in the wireless ad hoc network is maintaining high connectivity by autonomous routing according to the movement of the terminals. Another important problem is reducing the power consumption of the mobile terminals because the power resource of each mobile terminal is limited. In this study, we aim to solve both these problems and try to clarify the relationship between the quantity of routing packets and the data arrival rate when Active Route Timeout in AODV and packet transmission intervals are changed by use of a network simulator.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129070635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The services in these environments can passively serve users' request only. If a service receives more requests than it can handle in a certain time period, it is subject to malfunctioning. This paper proposes a new approach to service replications that allows a cloud to adjust its service instance deployments in response to existing and projected service request loads. This approach defines an optimal service replication strategy based on MapReduce, a processing model used extensively in GAE (Google App Engine) to solve huge data processing tasks. This service replication strategy is implemented by Service Level MapReduce (SLMR). To better support for SLMR, service replication technology is introduced, which include dynamic service replication and pre-deployed service replication. Furthermore, a passive SLMR approach that depends on the cloud management service (CMS) and a positive SLMR approach that does not need the support from CMS will be introduced.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131328345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For centralized management, it is difficult for conventional systems to assure the real-time transmission of emergency information under rapidly changing situations. Thus, based on the Autonomous Decentralized Community (ADC) concept the main route for emergency information transmission and the barrier for protecting the main route has been proposed. However, when multiple emergencies happen, the real-time property will decease for the transmission collision between communities. Therefore, this paper proposes Autonomous Emergency Information Transmission Technology in which the communities autonomously coordinate with each other to avoid the transmission collision between the main routes. The simulation results show the improvement of proposed technology.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124874473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a unified design model for assurance networks and demonstrates the model, methodology and its application to mobile ad hoc networks. In the unified design model, in order to realize the assurance networks, an overall network is partitioned into sub networks and real-time self-organized control functions are incorporated into each sub network for resilience to dynamic change, faults possibly causing failure and attacks to security. In the application of the proposed unified design model to mobile ad hoc networks, a real-time self-organizing autonomous clustering is presented. The simulation experimental results show that the presented autonomous clustering is resilient to a diversity of node mobility and its variation.","PeriodicalId":221833,"journal":{"name":"2011 Tenth International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134138729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
