Best, Independent Scientist","doi":"10.24966/aes-8780/100023","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24966/aes-8780/100023","url":null,"abstract":"Deriving global temperatures anomalies involves the surface averaging of normalized ocean and station temperature data in homogeneously distributed in both space and time. Different groups have adopted different averaging schemes to deal with this problem. For example GISS use approximately 8000 equal area cells and interpolate near neighbor stations. Berkeley Earth fit a temperature distribution to a 1 degree grid, while HadCRUT4 use regular binning on to a 5 degree grid. Cowtan and Way then attempt to correct HadCRUT4 for spatial bias by kriging results into sparse regions, guided by satellite data. In this paper we look at alternative methods based on averaging over the 3D spheroidal surface of the earth. It is shown that this approach alone removes any spatial bias, thereby avoiding direct interpolation. A spherical triangulation method is described which additionally has the benefit of avoiding binning completely by using each data point individually. Longer term 3D averaging is investigated by using an Icosahedral binning. New monthly and annual temperature series are presented for each method based on a) merging CRUTEM4 with HadCRUT3 (HadCRUT4.5), and b) merging GHCN V3C with HadSST3.","PeriodicalId":221823,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Atmospheric & Earth Science","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126960223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

J Atmos Earth Sci 2: 006. Abstract Present studies were carried out for physico-chemical parameters of water and soil of Motia Lake Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. The aim of the study was to establish the safety of water and fishes from the Lake. Different physico-chemical parameters such as pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Alkalinity (TA), Total Hardness (TH), Chloride (Cl), Nitrates (NO 3 ), Phosphate (PO 4 ), Turbidity and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of lake water were investigated during pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon period. The soil parameters such as pH, EC, phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium and organic matter were also studied in different sessions. The value of pH, EC, DO, TH, TA, Ca, Mg, Cl, NO 3 , PO 4 were recorded higher during pre-monsoon period in lake water. In soil sample, pH, EC, nitrogen was found higher in post-monsoon during study period. The results on physico-chemical parameters of water and soil clearly indicate highly productive nature of the Motia Lake. The water quality parameters showed maximum values during pre-mon-soon compared to rainy and winter seasons. It was inferred from the results of water quality and soil analysis that Motia lake was produc- tive in nature.","PeriodicalId":221823,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Atmospheric & Earth Science","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130738924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The focus is on the coal -bearing stratum of the lithofacies paleogeographic in the Western of Shandong Province. The investigation indicates that: the platform-lagoon facies developed during Benxi period in the Per- mo-Carboniferous, areas have barrier island and peat flat depositional environment; The Taiyuan period mainly formed in a tide flat-lagoon depositional environment, ephemeral barrier islands. During Shanxi period there was development of delta plain-delta front depositional environment in a lagoon-tidal flat setting. Beach facies and flood ba sin facies developed in Shihezi–Heishan period, having shallow lakes in between. During Wanshan period the setting changed into alluvial plain river-lake environment. Through the analysis of the late Paleozo- ic lithofacies-paleogeography in the western Shandong, an important guiding bearing may emerge in resources exploration.","PeriodicalId":221823,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Atmospheric & Earth Science","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129645819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
