Cutting speed, machining time and feed rate at three levels were selected as cutting variables. By adopting RSM technique with FCCD and using analysis of variance, the influence of cutting parameters on tool wear was explored. The results showed that the machining time was most significant factor on the tool wear criteria with respective contribution of (60.28) % for coated CBN insert by against a respective contribution of (68.89) % for coated carbide insert followed cutting speed with respective contribution of (30.34) % for coated CBN and (20.08) % for coated carbide inserts respectively. Normally, coated CBN insert had shown the better performance as comparing with coated carbide tools in terms of less tool wear and increased surface finish.","PeriodicalId":221563,"journal":{"name":"TRIBOINDIA-2018 An International Conference on Tribology (Archive)","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124614841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These natural fibres have the advantages of uninterrupted supply, and recyclable nature. Even though natural fibres reveal commendable physical and mechanical properties, it varies with the plant origin, species, geography, and so forth. Pineapple leave fibre (PALF) is one of the copiously available waste of agricultural resources in India and has not been studied yet. The present effort has been carried out to investigate the application of Pineapple Leaf fiber reinforced Vinylester based hybrid composites in acoustic barrier when the condition is wear driven. The obtained results are compared with a similar set of glass fiber reinforced Vinylester based hybrid composites. It is evident that the values of Sound Pressure level (SPL) obtained in case of a Single cylinder 4S petrol engine, Vertical 4-S Diesel Engine[2][4][7] and Air Compressor shows that the reduction in SPL can be achieved in its vicinity with maximum reduction at 1.5m from the source and a minimum reduction at 0.5m from the source for Pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) - Vinylester composites, thus after conducting the study we can say that the composites used can be recommended as a noise barrier also, and if the condition is erosion driven the composite material can sustain its property of reducing the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) dominantly and thus avoiding the sound levels.","PeriodicalId":221563,"journal":{"name":"TRIBOINDIA-2018 An International Conference on Tribology (Archive)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116472902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
