A 48-year-old man who had undergone CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) three weeks ago, admitted to our hospital with a diagnosis of left pleural effusion. He had the clinical findings of pulmonary edema, respiratory insufficiency and shock after tube thoracostomy. He was mechanically ventilated in intensive care unit. During this period, fluid restriction, inotropic agent, diuretic and oxygen support therapy were applied. The patient discharged on 7th day with a full clinical and radiological recovery. The aim of this case report was present to attention the development of re-expansion pulmonary edema which may be fatal, after tube thoracostomy in a patient with pleural effusion following coronary artery bypass surgery.","PeriodicalId":221529,"journal":{"name":"Türkiye Klinikleri Archives of Lung","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130159561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many lesions in several tissues which are thought to be non-tuberculosis entities according to their clinical, radiological and labaratory results can finally be diagnosed as tuberculosis. Tuberculosis can resemble granulamatous diseases such as sarcoidosis and malignities, therefore differential diagnosis should be made. Herein we represented our cerebral tuberculosis case whose first complaint was syncope. First evaluation with brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed several mass lesions and the patient thought to have metastatic malign disease. Initial evaluation of primary metastatic tumor site with chest x-ray revealed several lesions and raised the probability of a lung cancer. After the assessment of lung lesions the patient was introduced antituberculosis treatment with the diagnosis of smear-negative pulmonary tuberculosis and central nervous system tuberculosis. The histopathologic evaluations of the cerebellar and cerebral lesions are also confirmed the diagnosis. Complete remission was achieved with antituberculosis treatment.","PeriodicalId":221529,"journal":{"name":"Türkiye Klinikleri Archives of Lung","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125828956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
