Recent English language studies about teaching oral presentations indicate a high demand for oral presentation skills in English medium institutions. Learners’ ability to conduct oral presentations represents a key requirement for academic and career success. Therefore, educators continue to look for effective, innovative strategies to enhance the learners’ oral presentation skills. This article contributes to oral presentation literature by addressing the role of collaborative learning as a strategy that enhances learners’ motivation and teaching instructions. To accomplish this purpose, the authors use a framework they developed from Gibbs’ concept of reflective practice and insights from design thinking to reflect on their experiences of teaching oral presentations. The paper suggests that teachers can use collaborative strategies and the principles of design thinking to improve academic presentation instructions by focusing instructions on students’ personal interests, motivation, and engagement. In practice, the principles of design thinking allow both instructors and learners to diagnose oral presentation challenges, brainstorm and refine solution ideas, and then test these ideas to ensure their effectiveness. By facilitating students’ oral presentation projects, instructors can thus identify the learning challenges, engage learners more effectively as contributors to the building of the course design, and collaborate with them to overcome these obstacles.","PeriodicalId":221233,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research Scholars and Professionals of English Language Teaching","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121647850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Popovici","doi":"10.54850/jrspelt.6.29.04","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.54850/jrspelt.6.29.04","url":null,"abstract":"DOI: https://doi.org/10.54850/jrspelt.6.29.04 Abstract: This paper seeks to reexamine the relevance of Moodle as a Learning Management System (LMS) for foreign/second language (L2) sentence grammar. With this study, the researcher wants to ascertain whether Moodle-based language practice of grammatically problematic sentences, in conjunction with offline practice, has positive results in improving the online group of students’ production of grammatically correct sentences and, more significantly, whether it can be implemented on a larger scale in today’s online-dominated language-learning instruction. The students selected for this study were samples of English IV Assumption University (AU) undergraduates randomly selected from different sections taught by this instructor. The proposed research methodology consisted of the e-Grammar Tutor Development and the Implementation (the Experiment).The Independent Samples T-Test and the Paired Samples T-Test results were used to measure the progress and learning gains within the Online Group. The test results show that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the Online and Offline groups at the end of the Experiment (p = 0.000). These results support the writer’s alternate hypothesis that a Moodle-based tutoring system for sentence grammar is still an effective and vital asset for improving the grammatical accuracy of L2 learners.","PeriodicalId":221233,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research Scholars and Professionals of English Language Teaching","volume":"372 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133410962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, music indeed aids in the acquisition of languages. In terms of education, not all teachers use music in the classrooms for different reasons such as the time, the curriculum, or the deficiency of adequate technology. This research project aimed to determine the influence of American pop music to foster English language acquisition in the first and second international baccalaureate (IB) students at Angel Polibio Cháves School from Guaranda city. This research needed a survey, a pre and a posttest. The survey helped to confirm that students like to learn English by means of pop music. Both the pre and posttest were helpful to measure how much students could improve their English language. For the treatment, it was assigned two groups the experimental and control group, and only the experimental received an intervention based on ten American pop songs. These students worked with attractive worksheets to reinforce the language by emphasizing the before, during and after the song activities. The study used a quali-quantitative research design along with the quasiexperimental Based on the final outcomes, the recommendation for this research was to design a handbook proposal that helps learners in the acquisition of English and currently it is available for teachers and students in the school.","PeriodicalId":221233,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research Scholars and Professionals of English Language Teaching","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126354753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
