To achieve the aim of this study, a juxtaposed qualitative approach was followed to reveal and then describe such relevancy and outlook; the available literature has profoundly been surveyed to support the argument and the investigative range of this study; consequently, three essays, which are separate in form, but interrelated in their thematic topicality, have investigated three related issues: the first is why technology enhancement has dictated itself to the educational system, and how it has been changing the whole educational system; the second is why and how digital content can be an unavoidable digital resource and why there is a call to exploit digital contents and digital resources; the third is how digital tools, \"Grammarly\" as an example, bears some functional limitations that can cast some uncertainty over the degree of dependability that they are supposed to record. Accordingly, this study has generally concluded that technology enhancement, digital contents, digital resources, and digital tools are advantageous and exploitable as long as they are exploited rationally and reasonably;  technology enhancement should be understood as an extension and not as a substitution to traditional educational practices;  the study also concluded that the overdependence on technological and digital solutions could cast various risks on Human Intelligence (HI), thinking, attitudes, and behavior. {"title":"Feminine Sound Plurals Endings in /ya:t/ and /yya:t/ in Native and Loan Lexemes in Arabic","authors":"Reima Al-Jarf","doi":"10.32996/ijmer.2024.3.1.2","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32996/ijmer.2024.3.1.2","url":null,"abstract":"A sample of 80 loanwords and 100 native Arabic words ending with /ya:t/ or /yya:t/ were analyzed and compared to find out the conditions under which /ya:t/ and /yya:t/ appear in Feminine Sound plural forms of those words.  Results revealed that Arabic speakers pluralize native and loan nouns ending with the glide /y/, which is part of the words, as  ناي/na:y/; &   قبضاي /qabaDa:y/ (Turkish) by directly adding the feminine plural suffix /-a:t/ to the stem without making any other adaptations (نايات /na:ya:t/ flutes & قبضايات /qabadaya:t/ strong-arm).  In native words with a stem ending in the graphemes ى or ي pronounced /a:/ and /i:/, the vowel is shortened and the glide /y/ is added as a liaison consonant as inتمنيات  /tmanniya:t/ wishes; مديات /maday:at/ ranges).  When the loan stem ends in the syllable يا /ya:/, the final long vowel /a:/ is deleted before the plural suffix /-a:t/ as Arabic phonotactics do not allow a sequence of two long vowels as in بكالوريا /bakalo:rya/ > بكالوريات /bakalory+a:t/ high school diplomas. A geminated glide /yy/ appears in the plural of native words as أدبيات /?adabiyy+a:t/ literature; برمجيات /barmadʒiyy+a:t/ software) and plural loanwords as سيديات /si:di:yy+a:t/ CD’s; سيلفيات selfies /selfiyy+a:t/; باربيات /ba:rbi:ya:t/ Barbies; سمفونيات /simfo:ni: +y+a:t/ symphonies. In these examples, there are two explanations of the stem:  One assumes that the masculine singular stem ends in a geminated yy, after which the plural suffix /a:t/ is directly added. The second assumes that the stem is a feminine singular noun/adjective ending in a geminated yy followed by the grapheme ta marbouta ة ــة pronounced /a/. /a/ is deleted when the plural suffix /a:t/ is added, as Arabic does not allow the sequence of two vowels. The vowel preceding the geminate yy is shortened in the plural form of native and loanwords in Arabic. A sample of 500 shop names in 12 cities was collected from a Saudi Mall Directory and analyzed. In addition, a sample of 75 students and instructors from the departments of languages, translation, education, computer science and business and 25 shop owners and workers were surveyed. It was found that 64% of the shops have foreign names (25% international foreign names and 39% local names); 24% have pure Arabic names and 12% have mixed names. Some shops with a foreign name add an Arabic descriptor which is a translation of the foreign name (Perfume (عطورات بارفيوم. Foreign names are used in some mall and shop names although Arabic equivalents exist. The students, faculty and shop owners and workers gave promotional, sociocultural, linguistic and globalization factors, and lack of a business naming policy. They indicated that foreign shop names are used as a marketing strategy to attract customers who prefer foreign merchandise to local ones. They think it is more glamorous to use a foreign name as foreign names are associated with modernity, prestige, and elitism. They can reach more customers. A foreign name gives the customer the impression that the store is keeping abreast of latest international markets. They faculty added that in our cognition, foreign names are connected with high quality. Our culture looks at English as more sophisticated and fancier. An English name has a different effect. Shop owners indicated that new entrepreneurs adopt a foreign name because they are worried about their ability to compete with other shops. Shops like to Imitate shops in the West. Some think that translating a shop name to Arabic creates a barrier between the customer and the foreign franchised company as the original name is in English. As an example, foreign names are used for promoting the Riyadh Season (Oasis, Winter Wonderland, Park Avenue (بوليفارد . However, women experience harsher consequences and are more often to be victims of more extreme types of IPV because women have traditionally been viewed as men's property. Effects of IPV also include academic underachievement because physical and mental health problems caused by IPV affect academic performance. Gender differences exist in the occurrence of IPV. Therefore, this qualitative exploratory case study research has been conducted through in-depth interviews from a feminist perspective to determine how IPV has been influencing the academic performance of married female students. In this study universe of the researchers is Karachi. Researchers used Purposive sampling with a sample size of 10 married female students. Data is analyzed through the thematic analysis method. It is found that significant correlations were observed between IPV and the academic performance of married female students; It has impacted the GPA and completion of the degree. Due to IPV, married female students are experiencing impaired cognition and academic challenges. It decreased academic motivation, college/ university attachment, and attendance of married female students. The research in this study was picked to look into and comprehend language acquisition, its meanings and related topics, its categories, vocabulary learning techniques (VLT), historical research on using VLTs in English second language education, and the connection between effective language learners and VLT usage. The deliberate use of VLS in both official and casual settings and an accidental acquisition of VLS have all been examined in previous studies. The results demonstrated that the application of techniques significantly increased the vocabulary of ESL learners, underscoring the value of vocabulary to language proficiency. Proficient language users used VLS to enhance their vocabulary acquisition. At the end of this study, many research gaps identified in prior studies were highlighted. It was found that little study had been done on ESL students' efficiency of VLS usage. There isn't much research on LLS training models, as well. The formulation of the problem in this study is why the issue of human rights violations in Paniai District, Papua Province, has occurred again and what is the role of the state in protecting human rights in Indonesia and what is the international view of the state's role in protecting human rights in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of the state in protecting human rights in Indonesia and to find out the legal view of the state's role in protecting human rights in Indonesia. The research method used in this study is a normative research method with primary data sources derived from library research. This research was conducted using a statutory approach in order to further study the legal basis by examining laws and regulations related to human rights violations that occurred in Paniai district, Papua. The findings in this study are that the role of the state in protecting human rights in Indonesia has been considered in such a way as can be seen from the many laws and regulations regarding human rights, whose aim is to protect the rights of the humans themselves. However, the issue of resolving human rights cases must be carried out as fairly and transparently as possible in their settlement, considering the obligation of the state to carry out its role as a protector of human rights for all of its people must be maximized, and every right must be fulfilled. It reveals that Spanish is significant to the Cebuano learners, their native language, and their culture. Using the reflexive thematic analysis, the researcher analyzed the gathered data, which was collected through one-on-one interviews with the participants via google meet. Results show that participants garnered skills and an edge over others in studying a foreign language. It also shows that it enriches the native language by studying a foreign language. Participants appreciate the Cebuano language even more. It also shows participants understand other cultures and the cultural influence of the Cebuano language by studying Spanish.
