Skin rashes all over the body, itching for longer duration, and pain along with bumps anywhere in the body are the chief manifestations. Urticaria can affect any age and equally for both men and females. The urticaria also has several of its kind; aquatic urticaria, acute urticaria, chronic urticaria, and drug-mediated urticaria are the few examples. Urticaria can affect even the newborn and infants also. The itching and the rashes are the chief manifestations and classical signs. Urticaria is not hereditary or contagious. It is purely immune-mediated and hypersensitivity towards stimulants. Urticaria also referred to as Hives, are commonly caused by allergens and also can be a form of hormonal changes. Emotions can also be a cause of urticaria. Urticaria is not a serious condition but needs to consult the medical facility if any anaphylaxis appears. A hospital-based descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted utilizing a population of 400 nursing mothers attending the immunization clinic at the Obio Cottage Hospital, Port-Harcourt, Nigeria. A sample of 200 breastfeeding mothers was obtained using the Taro-Yemen formula and Albert Bandura’s Self-Efficacy theory was reviewed and applied as the theory that guided the study. A total of four objectives were formulated and data was collected with a questionnaire developed and validated by the researchers. The reliability of the instrument was ensured by conducting test-retest reliability within a two-week interval: the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) was the statistic used in computing the correlation between the two sets of data. The correlation was found to be 0.74. On the other hand, frequencies and simple percentages were used in analyzing the research data. The research findings showed a high level of awareness (90.7%) and widespread utilization (81.6%) of exclusive breastfeeding, satisfying the first and second objectives. However, lower rates of awareness of exclusive breastfeeding as a method of family planning (51.7%) were observed with even lower utilization (40.2%), for the by-products of the study, there was an 18.4% use of other feeding methods including, breastfeeding and water or baby formula and baby formula only. Finally, 59.8% of respondents use other methods of family planning, predominantly condoms, and 28.8% do not use family planning.","PeriodicalId":220282,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Science Practice, Research and Advancements","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115807768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of this pain, some women experience severe pain and are unable to do their daily routine work on these days or some are having mood swings because of hormonal changes. Pain varies it could be premenstrual or may occur through menses. Some women used home remedies like hot water bottle application, coffee etc. to alleviate pain levels. Some women and girls also used non-pharmacological management to reduce their pain and whose pain level is not reduced with home remedies. Our research study was to assess the knowledge regarding home management for dysmenorrhoea among girls of B.Sc. nursing 1st year of Bee Enn College of Nursing, Jammu. To determine the association between knowledge regarding home management for dysmenorrhoea among girls and selected socio-demographic variables.
