Sikorska","doi":"10.24425/122463","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24425/122463","url":null,"abstract":"The main aim of the article is to present practice theories, the family practices theory and the concept of displaying families in particular, as an alternative framework for conducting family research. Although theories of practice and the associated perspective of doing families are an inspiration for Polish social researchers, the theoretical assumptions of these concepts – especially their most up-to-date versions – are rarely analyzed in a systematic way. In addition, the displaying families concept is hardly known as a research method. Meanwhile, it seems that the practice approach may be particularly valuable for researching contemporary family life for at least four reasons, which are presented in the third part of the article. Szwed","doi":"10.24425/STS.2019.126152","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24425/STS.2019.126152","url":null,"abstract":"The article discusses the problem of legitimations in the discourse of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland on gender and reproductive rights from 2012–2017. Its aim is to reconstruct the ways the representatives of the Church legitimize their standpoint within these discursive fields and to explain the role of using diverse religious and secular legitimations for the public presence of the Roman Catholic Church. The results of the quantitative content analysis of the Polish Bishops’ Conference documents and bishops’ public utterances, i.e. media interviews, sermons, and conference speeches, are presented in the article. It also draws attention to the potential of memoirs as research material. The analysis is based on personal documents collected as a result of the competitions for memoirs of the unemployed held in Poland in 1931, 2000 and 2017. The data are examined with the use of the biographical method, the analysis is facilitated with MAXQDA qualitative analysis tools. We define trajectory as unfolding of a phenomenon and its evolution overtime, above all under the strong influence of external ŁUKASZ GRZEGORZ POSŁUSZNY, PAWEŁ KUBICKI 212 structures and mechanisms that depend on an individual’s agency to a limited degree. In the narrower sense, we treat trajectory as a sequence of changes in human life, determining transformations in status or position. We begin with the three-step logic of a trajectory (fall, stand-by and success) in order to indicate the „intermediary” trajectory types. The article proposes a pioneering conceptual model that combines these two issues. Since the proposal is novel, the article introduces the concepts that allow to operationalize the model as well as the graphic diagram that explains the relationships between these concepts. The article presents social services co-production as a potential source of the personal and social productivity among the older people generated by the use of their human and social capital.
