System is tested in three different scenarios. In the first scenario, the platform which cameras are entagrated to is stable and the objects in the environment are mobile. In the second scenario, the platform which cameras are entagrated to is mobile and the objects in the environment are stable. In the third scenario, both the platform which cameras are entagrated to and the objects in the environment are mobile. In many studies, the distance between obstacles and camera is estimated using distance between cameras, focal length and disparity value. In these methods, the fault ratio, while estimating the distance betwwen cameras and objects, is high when especially the objects are far away from cameras and have low disparity values. In this project, a new approach is proposed in estimating the distance between camera and obstacles. In this approach, a look-up table consists stereo distance values matching with real world distance values is used. In the case of obtaining correct disparity map, the distance between the obstacle and the camera, and the dimensions of the obstacle are estimated correctly with the ±10 cm tolerance.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131007910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method provides automatically paired source azimuth and elevation angle estimates. Furthermore it is possible to estimate D sources with D+1 sensor. 2-D array interpolation errors are minimized by using Wiener formulation. Proposed method is applied to the two planar arrays; uniform circular array (UCA) and uniform isotropic (IU) V-shaped array. It seen that the method can find closed form, automatically paired azimuth and elevation angles. Simulation results are presented verifying the efficacy of the method.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126695746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, to determine harmonics fast and accurately, a new method combining the advantages of Fourier Analysis (FA) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) is used. This structure can be defined as Fourier Artificial Neural Network (FANN). The mathematical expressions of the structure are presented in details. Performance of the method was tested with the signal applications containing harmonics and noise in the simulation environment. We found that the method gives faster or more accurate results compared to ANN and FA methods in real time applications.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123282454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the problem that is being studied requires high performance, efficiency and scalability, not only the retrieval accuracy should be high, but also the systems workload on the processing unit and the memory should be in acceptable ranges. With respect to other conventional features, the tonal profile features extracted in this work requires much less space. From the tonal features n-gram blocks are constructed and used in a look up table. Whenever the input signal satisfies some constraints, matching and retrieval are performed The results show that the computation performance and the retrieval accuracy is at promising levels.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126602862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In these studies, different methods are usually applied separately. In some of these studies, different methods were combined to obtain better results. In this study, a new approach is proposed to combined adaptively the SFS and photometric stereo methods. The depth map obtained from the SFS approach is appropriate to bring out the details. In photometric stereo aproach, rough surface information is obtained better than the other approaches. In the proposed method, best features of both methods are combined in an appropriate manner. Errors in the depth map obtained from experimental studies were examined and it is seen that the proposed method works successfully.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116078603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Watermarking algorithms are mainly concentrated on spatial or spectral domains. In this work, a robust and high capacity watermarking method that is based on spatio-frequency (SF) representations is presented. We use the discrete evolutionary transform (DET) calculated by Gabor expansion to represent an image in the SF domain. A watermark is embedded onto selected coefficients in the joint SF domain. Hence by combining the advantages of spatial and spectral domain watermarking methods, a robust, invisible, secure and high capacity watermarking method is presented.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116241224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The features detected from time and frequency domain analysis of snores showed the differences between simple and OSAS patients. In this study the total episodes of 1500 snore records taken from 7 simple and 14 OSAS patients were evaluated through time-frequency analysis. From the time-frequency analysis the differences, particularly from the spectral bandwidth point of view, between the two groups were identified, and using this data the method was suggested as a cost effective and simple technique to be widely used in detection of OSAS from simple patients.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121881372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For implementation of the nonlinear transconductance, FG-MOS transistors that operate in weak inversion region are employed. The proposed nonlinear transconductance-capacitor (Gm-C) structure for filters is derived from its corresponding conventional transconductance-capacitor (gm-C) in a systematic way. Therefore, this synthesis is independent of system size, regular, general and with a simple topology. Also, as the filters are designed based on the transistors working in weak-inversion they feature, low supply voltage, low power consumption, immune from body effect and with low circuit complexity. The simulation results by HSPICE show the validity of the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":219938,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE 17th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127825112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
