It involves experiments and practical considerations prior to carrying out a system identification of the plant. Four possible system configurations are elaborated. Parameter estimation is then carried out in Dymola. Practical factors that affect the quality of parameter estimation such as the type of input signal is discussed. It is established that it is more suitable to use Pseudorandom Multilevel Sequence (PRMLS) excitation for the detection of backlash because the multilevel magnitudes of the signal can invoke the nonlinearity of the system when the it is amplitude dependent. The preliminary identification results will be used in later work for active vibration control.","PeriodicalId":218798,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automatic Control and Intelligent Systems (I2CACIS)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114250783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, it is assumed that the system dynamics contains bounded unknown nonlinearities and external disturbances. Also, it is assumed that all the states in the system can be measured using a set of sensors, but there is a source of noise on each of the sensors with a white noise model. The design procedure is proposed using online solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation. The algorithm includes two separate robust adaptive laws for estimating the unknown nonlinear and linear terms. The adaptive law for estimation of the nonlinear terms is a model-free estimation algorithm, since it does not require any regressor parameters. In addition, a Kalman-filter is used to observe the values of the states free of the measurement noises. Moreover, a technique is presented to update the values for controller gain in an online manner. The performance of the proposed algorithm is studied on simulation of the Duffing-Holmes chaotic system with tracking objective.","PeriodicalId":218798,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automatic Control and Intelligent Systems (I2CACIS)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114458435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the relationship between blood glucose and cholesterol levels among the obese subjects who are diagnosed as pre-diabetic is indistinct and still undergoing. Thus, this study is mainly focused on finding the linkage between blood glucose and cholesterol levels in the pre-diabetic subjects as to explain the cause of diabetes and cardiovascular. 90 subjects (42 male and 48 female; age between 22–58 years old) were recruited in Universiti Malaysia Pahang to undergo oral glucose tolerance test which typically being used to diagnose pre-diabetes and diabetes. The blood test results indicate the glucose level and lipid profile (i.e. the cholesterol levels) of the subjects. Results obtained from pathology lab were analyzed using decision tree to show the difference of blood glucose and cholesterol levels along with their age, systolic blood pressure and body mass index. Overall, older people, high systolic blood pressure, cholesterol and BMI levels have higher probability to be detected as pre-diabetic. Thus, further analyses need to be conducted to prevail the relationship of diabetes and cardiovascular disease among aging and obese subjects.","PeriodicalId":218798,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automatic Control and Intelligent Systems (I2CACIS)","volume":"219 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123027025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Part of Intelligent Transportation Systems development involves advanced computation in traffic management to cope for the projecting congestion trend. This work simulates traffic system and develop an optimising algorithm to instruct the traffic signal timing plan. A multiple-intersection traffic system has been developed using probability and statistical model based on the real case traffic data collected from local traffic intersection. Enhanced particle swarm optimisation algorithm is developed to ensure result consistency with smaller variation. As a result, the algorithm suggested signal timing increases the average waiting time of non-congested directions by approximately 4.17% but reduces the queue length at congested junction significantly in order to even up the flow at intersections.","PeriodicalId":218798,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automatic Control and Intelligent Systems (I2CACIS)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122155288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

VANET shows a promising technology as it could enhance the traffic efficiency and promote traffic safety on the road systems. The conventional store-and-forward transmission protocol used in the intermediate node(s) simply stores the received packet and then send at a later time to the destination. However, the rapid changing in VANET topology has made the conventional store-and-forward approach inefficient to meet the throughput and reliability demand posed by VANET. Hence, NC is proposed to perform additional functions on the packet in the source or intermediate node(s). However, the chances to perform NC in wireless network is highly unlikely if the packet is not transmit to the potential NC node. Therefore, GA based network routing (GANeR) is embedded into network to search for shortest path from the source to the destination. It showed that the developed GANER in this work provides a better route with coding opportunities and reduces energy consumption in the network. The total energy consumed by GANER is 5.6% fewer than NC in wireless network transmission and forwarding structure (COPE).","PeriodicalId":218798,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automatic Control and Intelligent Systems (I2CACIS)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128968869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method used the Laplace's equation to compute the distribution of potential values in the simulated environments that helped generate the safest path along which the robot would be able to move from a specified starting position to a goal position without the risk of colluding with any obstacles present in the environments. The findings confirmed that the proposed HSMSOR was the most effective method compared to other existing iterative methods, given that it performed the lowest number of iterations and used the least amount of computational time.","PeriodicalId":218798,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automatic Control and Intelligent Systems (I2CACIS)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129734259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of this study is to minimize the high fuel costs of the Iraqi power generation system by controlling the outputs for each generating unit via the optimization algorithms. Though the Iraqi network is composed of the total 31 thermal units, it is considered as a large-scale system, and the actual number of units that are synchronized with the network is limited to 19 units only. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is proposed as a solution to be employed to solve the EPD challenge for the Iraqi network. PSO is applied to the thermal units of Iraqi network with quadratic form of fuel equations. The result of the PSO algorithm obtained has been compared with outputs of other algorithms, including Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Novel Bat algorithm (NBA).","PeriodicalId":218798,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Automatic Control and Intelligent Systems (I2CACIS)","volume":"88 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126306911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
