In people with osteoarthritis, the cartilage in the joints becomes worn down. Cartilage covers the ends of the bones and allows for the bones to move smoothly against each other (cartilage is the protective cushion on the end of the bones). Damage to the cartilage typically results in pain and leads to stiffness of the joint. In some cases, reduced joint movement and function may affect a person’s ability to perform daily tasks such as climbing stairs, walking or opening jars. The statistics of International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) indicate the arousal of 18.1 million new cancer cases causing 9.6 million deaths worldwide in the year 2018. Human body possesses a set of defensive processes carried out by the immune system whenever cancer is detected by its specialized cells. But when cancer escapes these processes, an anticancer therapy becomes the need. Three routes of treatment used widely today are Chemotherapy, Radiation therapy and Surgery. A new era in anticancer therapy is immunotherapy. It involves modification of patient’s own immune cells using biotechnology for treating cancer. There are various types of immunotherapies depending on the cells or cellular components modified and the molecules targeted in cancer cells. They include T cells, macrophages, specific receptors, proteins, chemical mediators and enzymes involved in immune response towards neoplasm. Hence immunotherapy is a much more specific and targeted therapy for cancer. A high therapeutic potential with minimum adverse effects and tumor specificity with no harm to normal body cells makes this therapy different than the pre existing ones. It is a chronic, systemic condition characterised by immune dysregulation (type 2 inflammation), epidermal barrier dysfunction, intense pruritis, recurrent eczematous lesions, and presents with a relapsing, remitting course.1,2 The pathophysiology of AD is multifactorial, involving a genetic hypersensitivity predisposition to environmental factors.1 Although not diagnostic, the disease is often associated with increased IgE levels and commonly occurs alongside other atopic conditions such as allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, asthma and/or food allergies.2 The morphology and location of AD is considered characteristic for different ages: in infants, lesions tellingly manifest on the cheeks while usually sparing the perioral, perinasal and nappy area.
