The purpose is to give a common knowledge base of what are pathological symptoms, characteristics of autism and secondary and related pathologies. In this picture, it will become clear that no symptom is single or isolated but the damage concerns a circuit, a higher function, a more complex system. Focusing on one aspect, one symptom and a single set of symptoms distracts from a general, overall picture. We have chosen not to unify them in order to also allow an articulated understanding of the characteristic, symptomatological, and psychological-emotional picture. We have chosen, methodologically, to describe, as and when possible, all these aspects in the words of autistic persons, leaving them to tell not so much the clinical symptom described from the outside, but how that symptom is experienced and described by the person.","PeriodicalId":217705,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mental Health Disorders","volume":"5 1","pages":"65-79"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.scientificarchives.com/public/assets/articles/article-pdf-1751534243-1468.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147885031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method of dispersion is in contrast to its originally anticipated large particle fomite transmission. Although COVID-19 dissemination has been found to be airborne, a continuous health directive to limit contagion during the pandemic was to improve handwashing. Persistent handwashing may aggravate obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), diminishing mental health. With a modest value to handwashing in controlling the spread of COVID-19, determining if the handwashing directive increased the incidence of OCD, promoting negative mental health, is pertinent. A limited review of the parameter “handwashing, mental health, COVID-19, OCD” searched six relevant databases. The result was that negative mental health related to increased handwashing was evident both for those already diagnosed with OCD and regarding new cases of OCD throughout the duration of the pandemic. The exception was for those very few OCD patients demonstrating resilience or on stable medication. The conclusion is that health officials are advised to update details of their health directives as information becomes available during a pandemic. Concerning COVID-19, the directive to concentrate on handwashing should have been modified once it was known that spread of the virus by fomite transmission was improbable, as doing so would have reduced the incidence of OCD and improved mental health of those experiencing OCD. Regarding improved mental health, further OCD research is indicated regarding both resilience and stable medication under pandemic conditions when increased hand-washing is advised.","PeriodicalId":217705,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mental Health Disorders","volume":"57 S270","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138965348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regarding work environments, this identified connection is referred to as “burnout”. A term first introduced in 1974 [2], symptoms of burnout include difficulty in concentrating, trouble relaxing, frequently making minor mistakes, and feeling a of lack of control in relation to work [3]. Burnout has been found highest in health professionals and especially in relation to medical students, who, as a result, have been found to be at an elevated risk of depression and suicide [4].","PeriodicalId":217705,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mental Health Disorders","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130259211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Technology presents as both a potential source of psychological dysfunction [2,3] and can also be used for psychological benefits [4,5]. Advancements in technology continue despite our inadequate understanding of what these innovations may mean for human functioning and well-being. Within the context of mental health, longitudinal explorations of the potential ramifications posed by technology usage are essential to developing treatment approaches and broad recommendations to guard against its pitfalls.","PeriodicalId":217705,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mental Health Disorders","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122867968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their civilian experiences and identity are systematically remodeled to fit the requirements of the nation’s services. Most recruits are able to cope with this extreme environment, albeit with some impact on their mental wellbeing, whereas those unable to cope either physically or emotionally are discharged from the Military through medical or administrative procedures. The recruit training environment is characterized by being totally controlled by another person (instructor) where they must succeed (perform) and conform to the service requirements or suffer formal and informal punishments. It is contended that this form of totally controlled environment impacts on the recruit’s mental wellbeing. Its effects either manifest immediately at a significant level, necessitating discharge, or occur at a lower level enabling service personnel to remain effective whilst staying in the Military; in some cases, not manifesting until they face the rigours of operational service. Operational service, be it war-like or peacekeeping, is an extremely stressful environment that can trigger latent mental health challenges or create new challenges, including but not limited to, depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.\u0000\u0000Negative mental health resulting from Military service can led to self-isolation and marital discord resulting in some instances to homelessness or at worst suicide. It is incumbent on the Military to investigate the manner in which recruit training is conducted, and to determine if changes could reduce the predisposition to negative mental health consequences, both from recruit training and subsequent military service.","PeriodicalId":217705,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mental Health Disorders","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127933801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The emotional, psychological and physical aspects from the pandemic have been destabilizing personally and collectively. The example of a woman in Jungian analytical psychotherapy is a combination of several who were replaying the early childhood loneliness and loss, memories exhumed from their repressions and denials and now being made conscious by COVID-19. The concept of precarity was introduced by the American philosopher Judith Butler [1] and here parallel those of lack and absence from French psychoanalyst, Andre Green. Dreams and her life situation viewed from the basis of Jungian analytical psychology highlight the search for meaning and personality expansion aroused by the emotional and physical losses and fears from COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":217705,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mental Health Disorders","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114774743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participants are prompted to self-report on Stress Intensity (SI), Frequency (F), the speed of Onset of stress (O), and the speed of Recovery (R) from stress. Stress management is an active process for mitigating stressors that are threatening to induce biological or psychological strain. Resilience in the face of stressors relies on timely recognition and coping to prevent strain from accumulating beyond the elastic bounds of recovery. Simple, reliable methods of stress monitoring are needed to detect when stress is reaching critical levels and to assess the efficacy of coping strategies that can help mitigate and prevent health and performance deficits. Prior longitudinal research on the time course of stress includes measurement of biomarkers and personality traits [1] and of biometrics on a short-term basis, such as heart rate and respiration rate recovery after artificiallyinducing stressors in laboratory settings [2-4]. Biomarker and biometric methods are advantageous for gathering quantitative, objective results; however, at the current state of technology, such methods are not scalable and become infeasible for monitoring stress over long periods of time in real-world settings or complex work environments. Biosampling requires time-intensive processing by laboratory staff with associated costs for materials and equipment; though someday in the future, if there will be miniaturized, low-cost laboratory equipment, such as portable mass spectrometers, then biosampling will become more accessible. Similarly, biometric recordings are typically conducted in clinical or laboratory settings, and these data require expertise for advanced data Abstract","PeriodicalId":217705,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mental Health Disorders","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123977325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
