However, establishing and sustaining the system can be challenging, given the complex and tedious processes involved. The computerized maintenance management system software provides firms with a vital tool for optimizing their maintenance spare parts reordering processes. This paper demonstrates that the software helps maintenance managers to perform the necessary ABC-XYZ calculations accurately and make timely entry of counts, hence minimizing costly equipment downtime. In this regard, the tool enables firms to run smoothly and produce maximally. However, proper staff training, and the definition of ground rules are critical for the successful implementation of a CMMS-based inventory management system.","PeriodicalId":216167,"journal":{"name":"2020 7th International Conference on Frontiers of Industrial Engineering (ICFIE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130237459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Internal resource availability also limits the project execution, especially in multi-projects condition. These project risks and limitations should be considered in the process of selecting project candidates and deciding which project to invest. In some multi-project cases, a R&D project can also bring up new potential projects, which makes it becoming higher value than others. In this research, Real Option Analysis (ROA) approach -OptFolio Light (OL) model offered by Nigro, et al (2014) is used as a reference model of project portfolio valuation process. The aim of this research is to develop a valuation and project selection model by considering the mentioned risks, limitations, and the opportunity to achieve the optimum value of the project portfolio. In this model, project cash flows were projected using Monte Carlo simulation by considering market volatility. Case study on five R&D project candidates at one of pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia, BFM, showed that the developed model results in a better valuation than traditional model Net Present Value (NPV). Considering project risks may reduce the project value but it makes the valuation process more rational. Sensitivity analysis of the developed model was also conducted in this research.","PeriodicalId":216167,"journal":{"name":"2020 7th International Conference on Frontiers of Industrial Engineering (ICFIE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123505256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are numerous challenges in utilizing renewable energy sources in generating power, particularly the degradation effect on telecommunication services due to radiation interference caused by the electromagnetic field induced by the dynamic movement of such devices or systems. Similarly, undesirable signals could interfere with communication systems, reducing both quality and performance, while wildlife such as birds, collide with the turbine rotor cutting edges. This paper undertakes an extensive examination into using a single wind turbine and its impact as a sustainable power source in providing renewable energy in reducing the level of pollution in Qatar while simultaneously considering the need to safeguard the surrounding wildlife, such as birds. The study proposes to use an advanced sensor ACS712 Hall Effect to convert the electromagnetic field to electrical flow, gauge the wind speed and direction and repulse birdlife. The proposal considers the environmental characteristics of the Al-Karaana village as the projected installation site to maximize the possibility of presenting a well-investigated solution in addressing the challenges and obstacles that could occur due to the application of wind energy supported by telecommunications infrastructure such as microwave systems. The scientific approach of this study assessed the possible solutions to mitigate the difficulties related to the use of wind turbines in the wireless communications field, wildlife, and natural environment.","PeriodicalId":216167,"journal":{"name":"2020 7th International Conference on Frontiers of Industrial Engineering (ICFIE)","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127997537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Performance evaluation in the SOPE is very important to meet the concern of shareholders and people as well. However, there is still a lack in conceptual framework on performance measurement tools for SOPEs. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to present a conceptual framework of sustainability balanced scorecard for SOPEs. The conceptual framework was developed through exploratory research regarding three dimensions of the TBL (environment, social, economy), four perspectives of the BSC (stakeholders, financial, business process, learning and growth), and three focused duties of SOPE. The proposed conceptual framework was comprised of six perspectives that are stakeholders, economy, social, environment, internal business process, learning and growth. A field assessment was carried out to evaluate the applicability of the conceptual framework through case study on four SOPEs in Indonesia. The assessment results showed that the developed conceptual framework of sustainability balanced scorecard would be very useful in performance management of SOPE.","PeriodicalId":216167,"journal":{"name":"2020 7th International Conference on Frontiers of Industrial Engineering (ICFIE)","volume":"352 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132418505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ageing of workers can also affect workers' coping with night work demands. The effects of age and shiftwork on the mood state of cement workers require more investigation and study due to the harsh working environment in the cement industry. This study aims to assess the relation and the impact of both age and shift timing on the mood state of cement factory workers. A sample of 70 cement production workers was asked to fill in the Profile of Mood State (POMS) questionnaire which consists of 65 questions covering six mood dimensions at a day shift. Then after two weeks, the same workers were asked to fill in the same questionnaire at night shift. In terms of shift timing, results showed that cement production workers who worked night shifts reported significantly more mental health issues and experienced more tension, depression and fatigue, and less vigor than workers performing day shifts. In terms of age, night shift effects on the mental health of older workers was less when compared to younger workers. Fatigue and tension were also found to increase and vigor was found to decrease with older ages. Overall, results indicated that age has significant effects on the mood state of shift workers. Implications of those findings in terms of enhancing safety at cement production plants are discussed at the end.","PeriodicalId":216167,"journal":{"name":"2020 7th International Conference on Frontiers of Industrial Engineering (ICFIE)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133552914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
