In Indonesia, 62, 5 million students from pre-primary to higher education are forced to shift from conventional learning to a complete move into e-Learning. This study sought to explore students' readiness to cope with online learning both in urban and rural areas of Indonesia and to find the relation whether socio-economic factors during pandemic affect their e-learning readiness. The theory underpinning the study was the e-Learning Readiness theory which measures eight dimensions: human resource, financial, technological, equipment, content, psychological, sociological, and environmental readiness. An online survey was conducted, and a total of 1.260 million students in urban and 846 students in rural areas participated in the study. The data were analyzed using multiple regression and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). This study reveals that students in urban areas are categorized as ready, but they need improvements in several aspects with the readiness index 3, 47. In contrast, students are not ready in rural areas and need several improvements with index 3,01. The study also highlights that basic IT skills competencies are critical for the preparedness of e-learning and should be taught to students. Future studies could analyze whether ICT training will significantly impact their perceives and acceptance of students' e-learning readiness, especially in rural areas, after training has been conducted.","PeriodicalId":215414,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Teaching, Education and Learning Conference","volume":"245 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121128414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teachers interested in implementing this model are expected to attend in-service training for several weeks to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The purpose of the present study is to explore how the whole process, from the training to implementation in class stages, has affected teachers’ beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes regarding teaching. Sixteen teachers participated in this study. Data came from an online survey with 11 open-ended questions and online focus group interviews. In the analysis, the recurring themes were determined through content analysis, and themes that emerged at the beginning and end were compared. The results suggested that besides developing a critical eye on their own teaching, teachers improved their collaboration skills and observed an increase in their autonomy. This study is an attempt to address a gap in the field concerning this model and how this model has the potential to contribute to the professional development of teachers.","PeriodicalId":215414,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Teaching, Education and Learning Conference","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116965113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is mainly quantitative. It will use quantitative research methods to collect data by distributing questions to the research community consisting of 10 teachers and 30 undergraduate students in the medical, technical faculty at Al-Kitab University. The data were analyzed by content analysis technique and divided into themes, sub-themes, and codes. The paper found that both students and teachers used technology to ensure the continuity of the educational process. In addition, both teachers and learners have different positive and negative opinions about the distance education platforms and the conditions facing them from the weakness of the Internet and the liability of electronic skills for both parties. Ideas were put forward on developing equipment and methods used for distance education activities using artificial intelligence to simulate the natural educational environment. This study recommends educational institutions restructure the curriculum and make it compatible with the electronic environment, just like the real academic environment.","PeriodicalId":215414,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Teaching, Education and Learning Conference","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126016435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional instruction often fails to change these ideas because students deeply hold them. In this study, we report the effects of using virtual manipulatives on students’ conceptual understanding of the topic, electricity. In learning the concepts on DC circuits, energy, current-voltage-resistance relationship, and potential difference, the students used the Physics Education Technology (PhET) interactive simulations project of the University of Colorado, particularly the Circuit Construction Kit DC Virtual Lab simulation app. The virtual activities that the students conducted were able to augment the class discussion. The results of the post-instruction administration of the assessment instrument, Determining and Interpreting Resistive Electric Circuits Test (DIRECT), revealed that the simulations helped the students analyze the physical aspects of electric circuits. Technology integration in classroom discussion of electric circuits effectively engaged students to learn more about Physics concepts.","PeriodicalId":215414,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Teaching, Education and Learning Conference","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123731097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
