However, this stage is composed of elements like transistors, which may have a low performance, due to the undesired temperature increase, as a result of reaching the desired power. To mitigate the loss of power and with it, the temperature rise, the management of heat sink is proposed, in order to keep the work of the power stage at a stable level and avoid thermal fractures within the circuit. This manuscript presents the obtained results of the thermal analysis in finite elements of the heat sink with fins in the form of a Cesaro curve, for power semiconductors, which evidence the increase in the heat flow, with respect to the commercial ones and so, facilitate the heat evacuation for conditioning the voltage and/or current.","PeriodicalId":21428,"journal":{"name":"Revista Facultad De Ingenieria-universidad De Antioquia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83839506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many prototypes have been made with piezoelectric generators, but at present, their commercialization and use has not been popularized due to their low power generation and energy losses. A design of an experimental prototype of an energy harvester with piezoelectric materials that reduces these losses and generates more energy thanks to the resonance with the beams is proposed in this article. An equilateral triangular tilde is designed such it will not deform when a force act on it. The tilde has four-cantilever beams, and it is designed to resonate with the natural frequency of the piezoelectric material. This is coupled to the piezoelectric device. The vibration generated on the beam, by average of a mechanical load, is used to generate more energy when it resonates. The piezoelectric is a ceramic material and generates a nominal power of 75 mW before placing it on the beam, and 375 mW after being placed on the beam. However, the energy collection circuit has losses due to its own consumption, the transmission of energy to the storage system, and in the mechanical system.","PeriodicalId":21428,"journal":{"name":"Revista Facultad De Ingenieria-universidad De Antioquia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86032611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, systems based on the visualization of the volume of tissue activated (VTA) produced by a particular stimulation setting have been developed. However, the medical specialist still has to search, by trial and error, for a DBS set-up that generates the desired VTA. Therefore, our goal is developing a DBS parameter tuning strategy for current clinical devices that allows defining a target VTA under biophysically viable constraints. We propose a machine learning approach that allows estimating the DBS parameter values for a given VTA, which comprises two main stages: i) A K-nearest neighbors-based deformation to define a target VTA preserving biophysically viable constraints. ii) A parameter estimation stage that consists of a data projection using metric learning to highlight relevant VTA properties, and a regression/classification algorithm to estimate the DBS parameters that generate the target VTA. Our methodology allows setting a biophysically compliant target VTA and accurately predicts the required configuration of stimulation parameters. Also, the performance of our approach is stable for both isotropic and anisotropic tissue conductivities. Furthermore, the computational time of the trained system is acceptable for real-world implementations.","PeriodicalId":21428,"journal":{"name":"Revista Facultad De Ingenieria-universidad De Antioquia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88441668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is traditionally produced in an oven which has had technological variations. Therefore, the present study focuses on determining the effect that NCS processing technology has on its physicochemical properties. In this study, two contrasting technologies were selected: the first one corresponds to the traditional furnace, characterized by a flat combustion chamber and hemispherical pan. The second one corresponds to the furnace with a ward type combustion chamber and modified pan. The variety of sugarcane selected was RD 75-11. The physical and chemical parameters evaluated were hydrogen potential (pH), total acidity (TA), solid soluble content soluble (SSC), ash, minerals, reducing sugars, color, moisture content and heat capacity. The technology with ward- type combustion chamber and modified pan managed to concentrate the oBrix of syrup to NCS in a 36.03% unlike the traditional furnace (32.59%). The two technologies used allowed obtaining NCS with an average caloric value of 14684.9 J g-1 and soluble solid content of 90.1oBrix. It was found that the NCS is a source of minerals such as potassium (3.55 g kg-1), calcium (2.25 g kg-1) and phosphorus (0.3 g kg-1).","PeriodicalId":21428,"journal":{"name":"Revista Facultad De Ingenieria-universidad De Antioquia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79170262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Applying a risk prevention methodology at educational institutions would help to avoid academic information misuse by users or attackers. MePRiSIA was designed as a risk prevention methodology to be simple and easy to understand while including the human factor in each step. This methodology has four steps to be considered in the process: setting the context, risk identification, risk analysis, and risk prevention. After being applied to the academic information system of Universidad de Pamplona (Colombia) called ACADEMUSOFT, MePRiSIA was evaluated by experts. In conclusion, after applying MePRiSIA to ACADEMUSOFT, the human factor was part of its most important assets and involved in the very high-level risks identified. According to the experts, implementation of MePRiSIA is hard when institution directors do not provide staff and financial resources for this purpose.","PeriodicalId":21428,"journal":{"name":"Revista Facultad De Ingenieria-universidad De Antioquia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78700118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conversions of more than 99% and enantiomeric excess 66% were obtained. The selectivity is complete towards styrene oxide using 2 mol% catalyst loading, 1.36 mmol KHSO 5 in 8 ml of water, absence of co-catalyst and 17 °C as reaction temperature. Furthermore, the catalyst could be recycled up to three times with slightly decrease of catalytic activity due mainly to the physical loss of the catalyst during the recovery step and at a lesser extent as a consequence of its oxidative degradation.","PeriodicalId":21428,"journal":{"name":"Revista Facultad De Ingenieria-universidad De Antioquia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78154390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results showed that the microhardness increase with the evaluated parameters and the hardening is related to the plastic deformation caused by the process rather than by microstructural transformations. Based on the experimental results, ANOVA-Pareto analysis was conducted proving that the angle of twist is the most influential control factor (59.35%) among the parameters investigated. Finally, a model to predict the microhardness profile from the torsion process is presented.","PeriodicalId":21428,"journal":{"name":"Revista Facultad De Ingenieria-universidad De Antioquia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75222676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
