The search for interesting documents on the internet is becoming more and more difficult. The main problem is not that we do not have the needed information to build or use knowledge, the problem is that we have too much information, mostly irrelevant. A proof of this is that inference engines are largely outperformed by the expansion of the internet and the results of queries are often of very poor quality. To improve the search process, intelligent individual agents were developed. We believe that multi-agent systems can give more accurate results than the individual agents because in a multi-agent system, agents can be specialised in different tasks and can share information. We implemented such an approach using an open multi-agent system containing personal assistants, library agents, filter agents, and search agents. In this paper, we study the models of internet multi-agent systems and propose an architecture to do intelligent web search. At the same time, increased performance demands require a team-based multidisciplinary design process that may span several organisations. One approach to meet these demands is to use 'Geometry Centric' design. In this approach, design engineers team their efforts through one united representation of the design that is usually captured in a Computer Aided Design (CAD) system. Standards-based interfaces are critical to provide uniform, simple, distributed services that enable the 'Geometry Centric' design approach. This paper describes an industry-wide effort, under the Object Management Group's (OMG) Manufacturing Technologies and Industrial Systems Domain Task Force, to define interfaces that enable the interoperability of CAD and Computer Aided Engineering tools. This critical link to enable 'Geometry Centric' design is called: CAD Services V1.0. An integrated sub system is a system where the same design object satisfies multiple functions: which is typically the case in aircraft engine sub systems and components. A generic decomposition method will allow implementation and use in automated design systems and will function as a means to build experiences into platforms. Using the procedure, an enhanced function-means tree (E F-M tree) consisting of functional requirements, means to satisfy the requirements and constraints was created for the integrated jet engine component. The E F-M tree is then used to generate a hierarchy of configurable components (CCs). A configurable component (CC) is a stand-alone conceptual object that contains the functional requirement, means to satisfy the requirement (or design solution) and constraints at a certain level of the E F-M tree. A specific CC hierarchy configuration results in the description of the product concerned. The usage of the CC hierarchy as design documentation as well as a template to derive other designs from is demonstrated. The challenge of the creation of the biomedical model is the complexity of the geometrical modelling as we have to deal with natural shapes. The representation of the human bones in terms of machining parameters the bottleneck in the design of complex products, and concurrent procedures can aid in this task. This work addresses the design requirements in order to build an anatomical skull prosthesis piece in the Computed Aided Design (CAD) systems. A novel methodology based on ellipse adjustment has been investigated in order to define the manufacture parameters. In geometric terms an ellipse seems with the bone?s border shape in a Computed Tomography (CT) slice. The arc that fills the correspondent failure in the bone border is extracted from the respective adjusted ellipse to each CT slice and the set of those extracted arcs can be superimposed to define the stack of images to build a 3D CAD model. Evolutionary Algorithms were also applied to improve the quality of data generated. A prototype was implemented by an open source Java based tool (ImageJ) in order to create synthetic defects to simulate problems in the 3D virtual skull model.
