This research examines the motivational factors that lead to maintaining workers performance in a stressful working environment by achieving employee satisfaction levels. This research uses the path-goal theory that describes a positive supervisor’s qualities as crucial to deal with workers. Data were collected through 400 questionnaires distributed to middle-level managers and their subordinates in private companies in Pakistan. The PLS-SEM technique was employed to execute comprehensive results that show a stressful environment that directly hits employee performance; the results are sufficient and have proven the relationships between variables. The current body of literature provides limited insight into these connections, resulting in a void that this investigation has filled. The findings of the study can be utilized to enhance working conditions for improved employee performance, thereby resulting in increased productivity within an organization.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"186 1","pages":"137 - 162"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139304785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The determining factors of export instability in this study are commodity concentration index, geographical concentration index, food ratio, export earnings and total export quantity. The study employs Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to investigate the long-run (LR) relationship between export instability and its employed determinants. The empirical evidence reveals that commodity concentration, geographical concentration, food exports and export earnings are the key factors explaining export instability in Pakistan. The study finds the positive relationship between export instability and commodity concentration, while a negative association with geographical concentration. Furthermore, food exports and export earnings are also found to be negatively related to export instability. The study finds that concentration or dependence on a few exports causes export instability in Pakistan, but this problem would be overcome if Pakistan’s commodity basket for exports become diversified.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"22 1","pages":"21 - 48"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139300054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The persistent deficit is necessary to be sustainable if it will be paid off shortly otherwise it will pile up external debt. The conventional methodology concluded that current account deficit (CAD) of Pakistan is unsustainable, albeit one measure suggests sustainability. There is cointegration among variables and domestic saving, external debt, fiscal deficit and trade deficit has positive whereas exchange rate and worker’s remittances have a negative relation with the current account, all the results are significant. The negative sign of the error correction term confirms restoration of equilibrium and it is also significant. Bidirectional causality is reported between the worker’s remittances, exchange rate and external debt with CAD. Unidirectional causality is seen from CAD to trade deficit and fiscal deficit. The diagnostic tests of the model confirm robustness. The government should favour an investment-friendly environment to increase economic activity in the country besides improving domestic savings and reducing the external deficit.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"22 1","pages":"97 - 112"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139292690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two main hypotheses were verified. The first hypothesis was related to the spatial heterogeneity problem, i.e., we hypothesised that relationship between the employment rate and the explanatory variables (GDP per inhabitant, educational attainment level and compensation of employees) may vary spatially. The second hypothesis dealt with the spatial autocorrelation, i.e., we assumed that the regional employment process is not isolated and that the neighbourhood of the regions also plays a significant role. As the main methodological tool the spatial regime models were applied. Spatial analysis of employment rate data indicated two spatial regimes. The results revealed the spatial instability of estimated parameters across the two regimes. Also, the spatial regional interconnections within both regimes were confirmed. Statistical significance of spillover effects of considered employment factors outlines the high importance of spatial spillovers.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"20 1","pages":"163 - 182"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139296392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this research paper is to promote powerful market interactions in the evolution of banking business models by exploiting the business model canvas method. The major banking business models in North Macedonia, identified by the method of cluster analysis in this paper were analyzed from the marketing perspective in order to present a generalized canvas of the commercial banking digital transformation aspects and strategy at the country level. The analysis was conceptualized over eight key strategic aspects. The visualization method was chosen to approach the relevance of stakeholders in the banking strategy and the value creation for society. Finally, this study concludes with the existence of substantial digitalization capacity of the banking institutions in North Macedonia, confirming its positive linkage with size, social responsibility, and international aspects.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"16 1","pages":"203 - 214"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139291670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple of these organizations are created each year and, as a general rule, the highest percentage die in their first year. Which is a strong reason for the abundance of research aimed at understanding the nature of their behavior. These studies assume different streams of analysis, which are developed from dissimilar areas of knowledge. This particular research seeks to evaluate how multiple variables affect the high annual mortality rate shown by micro and small enterprises. For this purpose, the descriptive statistics of the behavior of the variables are initially used to later identify, through a discriminant analysis, the variables that best explain a possible closure, which are: the attitude of entrepreneurs to face risks and failures, their perseverance, as well as the effectiveness of the feasibility studies that support the birth of the ventures.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"12 1","pages":"49 - 76"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139302832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In predicting when and where the potential for success will arise or what the sources of threats will be, it is essential to properly implement and continuously use the early warning system by monitoring indicators from the environment. This paper presents a theoretical and practical contribution to understanding the importance of early warning systems in Croatian companies operating in international markets. The introduction includes a discussion on current business conditions, and then the term “early warning system” is conceptually discussed. The research part of the paper presents the results of empirical research on the perception of respondents on the level of development of early warning systems in their companies operating in the international market according to the legal form, size, headquarters, and ownership of the company. The established attitude of the respondents was that the level of development of the early warning system is low, i.e., that they are used primarily by large foreign-owned companies based in more economically developed counties.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"6 1","pages":"7 - 20"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139305503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper examines the viability of a non-Ricardian regime in Algeria under COVID-19 and the consequences of fiscal dominance on monetary policy. The study demonstrated that budget deficit/GDP, official exchange rate, an interest rate of treasury bills, oil prices, and broad money/GDP are all significantly connected to the inflation rate using an ARDL model from 1998 to 2020. Long-term cointegration is present, supporting the legitimacy of the non-Ricardian regime and the importance of fiscal policy. Empirical findings show the substantial role of the budget deficit, particularly during the COVID-19 period, on Algerian inflation, which has implications for the central bank, government.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"13 1","pages":"77 - 96"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139295176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To do so, a difference in differences research design has been used on a balanced panel dataset of municipality level observations over a ten-year period. The areas that experienced the largest emigration in the post 2014 period saw a large negative decrease in total tax revenue over the subsequent years, mainly driven by income tax revenue decrease. The results of this research warn that large emigration flows can lead to a cycle of economic degeneration as local areas lose fiscal revenue to spend on local services, in turn making them less likely to attract citizens.","PeriodicalId":213150,"journal":{"name":"Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business","volume":"178 1","pages":"183 - 202"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139296964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
