However, in order for them to be as effective as possible, complicated surface geometries are often used. The present study investigates a cheap method of obtaining desirable surfaces for use in TENG, using commercial emery paper to roughen one of their two surfaces. It was found that increasing the grit and thus decreasing the particle size of the emery paper used in roughening the surface increased the output open circuit voltage of the triboelectric nanogenerator. It is concluded that emery paper works as a cheap method of roughening one of the two surfaces of a TENG, and increasing the number of contacting asperities leading to the increase of electrostatic charge. The tested additives are added to hydraulic oil at different concentrations. Tests were carried out to investigate the friction and wear of steel lubricated by these additives using pin on disc wear tester. The experiments of the present work reveals that friction coefficient significantly increased as the applied load increased. Addition of the additive into hydraulic oil decreased friction coefficient, where the lowest friction values were observed at 1.0 wt. % of the additive content. The same trend was observed when the test specimens were lubricated by relatively high viscosity hydraulic oil. Besides, wear decreased with increasing additive content. The lowest values were measured for the 1.0 wt. % additive content. The viscosity improver decreased the values of wear. The decrease of friction and wear can be attributed to the decomposition products of the additive that work as solid lubricants. The hybrid nano-filler used in this research is graphene and TiO 2 nanoparticles. Loading filler amount of TiO 2 nanoparticles 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 wt. %, while graphene adds with amount of 0.5 and 1.0wt. %. The reciprocating tribometer was used to perform the tribological properties of the composites. Moreover, the hardness was evaluated via durometer Shore D. It was found that a good enhancement in the mechanical and tribological properties of PMMA composites.
