It’s a common knowledge about the special lingua-cultural peculiarities of national intercultural, cross-cultural means of communication. One of these peculiarities is phatic style of communication, partially, regulators. It is believed that phatic or the contact-forming style or type of communication is nationally coloured and specific one. We consider that students have to differentiate special norms (or regulators) of contact-forming type of communication. The regulator usually can be explained by those culturally considered obligations which exist in the mental and cultural spheres of a human being. Comparison of different styles of the regulators of phatic communication makes possible to mind the mentally considered national habits as culturally minded regulators. Mongol-speaking regulators of phatic style are considered to be non-investigated and because of it worth of interest. Interactivity, innovative forms and teaching tools employed contribute to the creation of an activity-oriented training process for future translators. The aim of the article is to present the effectiveness of case-study technique in developing future interpreters’ professional skills through interactive classes. The article presents potency of the scheme for solving translation tasks by analyzing problem situations (case-study), which results in students’ progress in acquiring translation skills. The students were provided with the worked-out algorithm to solve specifically chosen cases containing translation blunders, in four weeks of the experimental training they demonstrated deeper understanding of the diversity of cases, improved their skills to listen to and evaluate their peers’ ideas and the ability to draw conclusions through discussion. Petrosjan","doi":"10.15405/epes.22104.26","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15405/epes.22104.26","url":null,"abstract":"The article is devoted to the actual topic of intercultural communication as a factor in the competitiveness of Russian specialists in the international labor market. In the modern world, for specialists (especially for positions of a managerial nature), it is necessary to know foreign languages and, the rules of communication, the linguistic and cultural characteristics of each participant in communication. The research methodology is based on a systematic approach and includes the methods of the general scientific group (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction), as well as a number of special methods: content analysis of scientific literature on the research topic, sociological survey, statistical analysis. The materials of the study were the answers of students to a survey in three non-linguistic specialties of the 1st year of a non-linguistic university. As a result of the empirical study, it was revealed that intercultural communication as a special section in the course of a foreign language, using the example of English as a language for special purposes, allows to achieve a significant improvement not only in the language students’ competence, but also in deeper knowledge of the specialty chosen by students. The competitiveness of specialists with intercultural communication skills was assessed at a high level compared to those students who were not taught the rules and principles of intercultural communication. Lavrova","doi":"10.15405/epes.22104.18","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15405/epes.22104.18","url":null,"abstract":"Placing the research in historical perspective, the article’s main goal is to explicate systemic paradigmatic relations between words in Russian and Bulgarian. The typological and etymological affinity of Bulgarian and Russian is rooted in the shared linguistic and historical past and hence is the legitimate subject-matter of the research. The main hypothesis of the research is that despite the common ancestry, Russian and Bulgarian have developed along their own, unique ways, determined by both linguistic and extralinguistic causes. In the course of the languages’ protracted and chequered history, centrifugal forces have dominated over the centripetal ones, as a result of which Bulgarian and Russian have emerged as typologically different languages. The common denominator, however, is that apart from having an extremely complex system of grammatical endings, Russian and Bulgarian also share a substantial number of formally and/or semantically overlapping words. The main research methods are systemic and stratified sampling, and contrastive-typological analysis. The results of the research have revealed a paradigm of crosslinguistic lexical relations, among which metonymy, synonymy, hyponymy, contrast, and cross-linguistic homonymy play a crucial role.
